Review by E. Reed on December 5, 2020I took the Striker Z60 out yesterday to see what it could do. Being an advanced detectorist I knew that an entry-level machine would have its limitations. However, the Z60 surprised me, proving to be a formidable detector in its class, as well as being incredibly simple to operate. I was detecting a wooded area in Virginia with known colonial history, and a 2-3 inch thick blanket of leaves above the soil. I was expecting to have to kick leaves aside in order for the Z60 to get close enough to the soil in order to detect the 6-8 inch-deep relics. That wasn't the case! The Z60 sniffed out item after item, through the leaves. The prize being an awesome mid-late 1700s flat tombac button! If the Z60 can find relics through 2-3 inches of leaves, I can only imagine how well it could perform in a park or on a beach!
Review by Stephen - Southern Relics on December 5, 2020The Striker z60 is a great beginner metal detector. It has some awesome features such as the 4-tone coin mode. This is great when coin shooting. One can keep their eyes on where they are walking and swinging the coil and the tones will give them the information they need regarding what is under the soil. The pinpoint function works fantastic as well; it is very accurate.
It is light weight, and the controls are simple to use and understand. If you are considering getting into the hobby, you can't go wrong with this one!
The second time I used it, I found a STERLING SILVER ring with a beautiful blue stone in it! It was between 3-4 inches in the ground and it indicated that it was a Zinc penny/dime. This detector works best when you swing it slow, and it will surprise you at how well it performs!
This detector will do very well for the beginner who is considering to get in the great hobby of metal detecting!!

Q: what are the limitations of this machine on the beach?A: It would be fine in the dry sand, but you may have extra noise in the wet sand and salt water. It can become chattery.

Q: Z60 seems simple & good for starters. Can you suggest more advanced models to search for coins at old farmstead type detecting? Thank you.A: This is an excellent detector! The Nokta Makro Simplex, Garrett Ace Apex and Minelab Equinox are all really good machines to use at old farms, fields and homesites.
