The Minelab Manticore represents the pinnacle of simultaneous multi-frequency metal detecting technology. Built for serious detectorists who demand more information, more depth, and more confidence on every target — the Manticore delivers all three without compromise.

At its core is Minelab's Multi-IQ+ technology, which broadcasts and receives across five frequencies simultaneously — 5, 10, 15, 20, and 40 kHz. This means the Manticore isn't choosing between sensitivity to low-conductivity targets like gold and high-conductivity targets like silver. It's reading both at the same time, on every sweep. The result is a target signal that's deeper and more accurate than single or switchable-frequency machines can achieve, particularly in the conditions that challenge other detectors most: saltwater beaches, highly mineralized ground, and iron-contaminated sites.

The Manticore's most distinctive feature is its two-dimensional target identification display, called Target Trace. Where traditional detectors give you a single number on a horizontal scale, the Manticore maps every target on two axes simultaneously — conductivity on the horizontal axis, and ferrous content on the vertical. The result is a visual trace on the color LCD screen that tells you not just what a target likely is, but how iron-contaminated it is, how large it is relative to similar targets, and how confidently the machine is reading it.
The Target ID scale runs from -19 to 99 — the highest resolution available on any Minelab detector. Coins, relics, jewelry, and iron each produce distinct, recognizable patterns. Over time, experienced detectorists learn to read those patterns the way they read audio tones, developing an intuition for what's worth digging that no single-number ID system can replicate.
The Manticore ships with 10 pre-configured search modes, each optimized for a specific terrain:
Every mode is fully customizable. Discrimination patterns, audio profiles, sensitivity, recovery speed, and ferrous limits can all be adjusted and saved, so the machine responds exactly how you want it to in every location you hunt.

Two of the most important variables in discrimination hunting are fully in your hands with the Manticore.
Adjustable Ferrous Limits let you define exactly where on the vertical axis you want the machine to accept or reject targets. On iron-heavy relic sites where valuable targets often read close to iron, this level of control lets you unmask good targets that simpler discrimination systems would reject entirely.
Recovery Speed is adjustable from 0 to 8. Higher speeds allow the detector to reset faster between targets — essential for accurately reading individual signals in dense, trashy ground. Lower speeds let the machine dwell longer on each signal, improving depth and sensitivity on isolated targets in cleaner ground. Matching recovery speed to site conditions is one of the highest-impact adjustments you can make, and the Manticore gives you complete control over it.
Audio Built for How You Actually Detect
The Manticore supports multiple audio tone configurations — 1-tone, 2-tone, 5-tone, and all-tone options — as well as continuous pitch (VCO) mode, where audio pitch rises and falls with target conductivity. Each profile is customizable for tone breaks, volume, and response behavior, so the machine sounds the way you want it to rather than the way the factory decided.
The handle includes built-in vibration alerts that fire on target detection, giving you tactile feedback independent of your audio. This is useful in loud environments, on windy beaches, in areas where headphone use isn't practical, or anywhere you want a second layer of confirmation on a target signal.
The Manticore includes Minelab ML105 wireless headphones with low-latency proprietary wireless technology. Lag between swing and audio is a real problem with generic Bluetooth headphones and causes missed targets — the ML105's dedicated connection eliminates it. A 3.5mm wired headphone jack is also included for situations where you prefer a wired pair, need a backup in the field, or want to run your own headphones.

With an IP68 waterproof rating, the Manticore is fully submersible to 5 meters (16 feet). The control unit, shaft, and coil are all rated to the same depth. This isn't splash-resistant construction — it's a legitimate water detector, capable of underwater relic hunting, surf zone work, and wading in conditions that would end a hunt on lesser machines.

The three-piece carbon fiber shaft keeps total weight at just 1.3 kg (2.9 lbs) — light enough for all-day hunts without arm fatigue. The shaft collapses to just 24 inches for easy transport and extends to 56.7 inches for hunting. Cam locks secure each segment firmly with no play or wobble.
The control pod includes a built-in flashlight and backlit keypad, so you can keep hunting and navigating settings after dark without losing visibility. The color LCD display offers 10 manual backlight levels plus an auto-adjust mode that compensates as light conditions change throughout the day.
The Manticore runs on a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery rated for approximately 10 hours of runtime per charge, with a charge time of around 7 hours via the included magnetic USB cable. Software updates are applied via USB and are compatible with both Windows and Mac.
3-year warranty on the detector and coils. 6-month warranty on the battery.
What's in This Bundle
The Coil Bundle adds two additional Manticore-specific smart coils to your setup — the M8 and the M15 — giving you a complete three-coil system alongside the M11 that ships with every Manticore. Each coil changes how the detector behaves in the field in meaningful ways, and having all three means you're never hunting with the wrong tool for the conditions.
Minelab M8 Coil — 8" x 5.5" Elliptical Double-D
The M8 is a smaller, elliptical coil built for precision. Where the stock M11 is designed to balance depth and coverage across a wide range of conditions, the M8 narrows that focus toward target separation — the ability to read individual targets cleanly when they're sitting close together or surrounded by iron.
In the field, that matters most on densely trashed sites: older parks, colonial-era properties, cellar holes, and iron-littered relic grounds where the M11 may struggle to isolate a good signal from the noise around it. The M8's smaller footprint means it's processing a tighter area on each sweep, which translates to cleaner, more confident reads on targets that would otherwise blur together or get masked entirely. It's also lighter than the stock coil at 400g with skidplate, which makes a noticeable difference on long hunts.
If you regularly hunt sites where you're pulling nails and junk out of the ground and wondering what you're missing underneath them, the M8 is the coil that answers that question.
Minelab M15 Coil — 15" x 12" Double-D
The M15 is the coverage and depth tool. Its larger footprint covers more ground per sweep and improves detection depth on deeper targets — the two things you want most when you're working open, relatively clean environments where the goal is finding what's buried deep rather than untangling a dense target field.
On open beaches, agricultural fields, pastures, and park land that hasn't been hunted into the ground, the M15 gives the Manticore a fundamentally different character. You cover ground faster, you're reaching targets the M11 wouldn't hit at depth, and you're doing it with the same Multi-IQ+ processing and 2D Target ID that makes the Manticore what it is. Like the M8, it's fully waterproof to 5 meters — so it's just as capable in the surf or shallow water as it is on dry land.
If you spend most of your time on open sites and feel like you're hunting the same ground everyone else is hunting, the M15 is how you start finding what they left behind.
Why choose this bundle over the base model
The M11 that ships with the Manticore is an excellent all-around coil — it's what Minelab chose as the default for a reason. But every coil is a compromise. The M11 is optimized for a broad range of conditions, which means it's not fully optimized for any specific one. The Coil Bundle gives you two additional tools that are each purpose-built for the conditions where the M11 has limits.
Most experienced detectorists end up buying additional coils eventually. Bundling them at purchase is the more economical way to do it, and it means you show up to every site — trashy or open, shallow or deep — with the right coil already in your bag.
