A Crazy Signal

I had the opportunity to revisit a colonial house, that was built in 1704(ish), I'm hunted a few times... I was on site about 5 hours and worked an area measuring 100X100... This property is 47 acres, but the targets were coming pretty steady in this small area...

A Happy Balance

I enjoy posting videos, reading forums and making new friends in the Detecting Hobby. Having said that, it upsets me when I see users of other metal detectors talking down on Minelab products and making fun of us for relying on numbers.

Wow What a Find!

I have been detecting since '97. Started out with a cheap Quickdraw II and immediately became hooked. It wasn't long before I realized I needed something a little better. My first Minelab was an Explorer XS. Through the years I've upgraded several times and currently use an E-TRAC. Hands down the best machine I've ever used. I hunt with a buddy that uses a Whites and he just can't get the depth that I get.

First Real Outing

Was detecting a old cellar site I presumed to be 1800s. Got a decent 12-41 on the E-TRAC at 6 inches or so. Dug down found a nail rescanned still a target and out pops another nail and this coin!!!!! Definetly dated the site alot older than I thought. Also found this 1700s buckle the same day. The coin is a 1785 colonial connecticut copper one cent coin!!! and did I mention this was the first real outing with the E-TRAC for me.

I Love this E-TRAC!

I've been detecting now just over three months, and I'm amazed at how awesome this machine is. I live in Philadelphia and love the history here. A few blocks away from me is one of the oldest parks in the city, and is open to MDers. In two months I've found 14 Mercury Dimes (oldest: 1916-S), 1 Barber Dime (1906), 3 Buffalo Nickels, 5 Silver Quarters, 2 Rosie Dimes, 5 Indian Head Pennies, 107 Quarters, 167 Dimes, 370 Pennies, 83 Wheat Pennies, and my greatest find, and oldest, is a King George III Rex half penny!

Listen to your Hunting Buddy

My hunting buddy Steve has a spot he'd been working over with good results for relics in the past and we'd also worked it over many times as a team on top of that. We'd moved on to some other areas but Steve said he had a feeling we should go back over it again. Well, it pays to listen to your hunting bud so off we went Steve, my wife and I.

A Day I Will Never Forget

Feb 6th, 2012 is a day I will never forget for the rest of my life. I woke up and decided to detect a park about 25 miles from my house. I had been to this park one other time where although I had not found anything old I found alot of clad. When I went to the park the first time I met another fellow Minelab hunter, he used an Explorer and had told me he had found a 1763 reale there. I remember thinking there has to be some history there to find a coin like that so I decided to go back.

The Grand Prize of Chuck E Cheese Items

Almost every Detectorist in the United States has found a Chuck E Cheese Game token and there is a running joke about finding one. I have a can of them myself so they are nothing to be excited about. Today however, I found the grand prize of Chuck E Cheese Items.
