The XP ICON brings XP's wireless FMF® Fast Multi-Frequency technology into a streamlined detector designed for straightforward operation without sacrificing the settings experienced detectorists expect. It combines simultaneous multi-frequency detection, selectable mono frequencies, customizable programs, advanced XP audio, adjustable Reactivity, ground control, and compatibility with XP's wider coil and accessory ecosystem in an ultra-light package.
For detectorists who want to turn on, choose a program, and hunt, the ICON keeps setup simple. For those who want more control, the core detection settings remain adjustable.
XP's FMF technology analyzes multiple frequencies simultaneously, allowing the ICON to work across a broad range of targets and ground conditions without requiring the operator to choose one fixed frequency.
Its FMF programs operate across a wide frequency range reaching up to 40 kHz. Automatic and manual frequency shift can also help the detector manage electromagnetic interference.
When a single-frequency approach is preferred, the ICON provides selectable 4 kHz and 14 kHz mono operation.
Lower-frequency operation can favor larger and higher-conductive targets, while 14 kHz provides a versatile middle range for common coin, jewelry, and relic hunting.
The ICON includes three factory FMF programs built around the most common detecting environments.
Three additional user slots let you save customized versions for your own hunting conditions or preferences.
That gives the ICON six available program slots without loading the interface with unnecessary presets.
Five Reactivity levels from 1 to 5 allow the ICON to adapt its recovery speed to site conditions.
Lower Reactivity can favor greater detection range in relatively clean ground. Higher Reactivity improves target separation in iron, trash, mineralization, and sites where multiple targets are located close together.
Additional controls include
These controls allow the ICON to remain simple at the program level while still giving the operator direct control over the settings that have the biggest effect in difficult ground.
The ICON supports XP PWM and SQUARE audio with Stereo Audio Morphing.
PWM provides XP's traditional dynamic audio with harmonic information that changes with signal strength and target distance. SQUARE produces a smoother tonal character while target volume continues to communicate distance.
Tone options include
The ICON provides three Audio Type settings using XP's standard audio response. Iron volume and audio output volume are independently adjustable.
The ICON provides Grab Ground Balance and automatic Ground Tracking for adapting to changing soil conditions.
STANDARD and PRO ground modes provide two different approaches to ground response. STANDARD is XP's recommended general-purpose setting. PRO gives experienced operators greater access to signals within the ground zone that may otherwise be masked by mineralization.
This allows the ICON to adapt across parks, fields, beaches, wet sand, saltwater conditions, and mineralized ground while remaining easy to set up for normal hunting.
The ICON works with XP's wider FMF ecosystem rather than using a coil family exclusive to the detector.
Compatible coils include
The detector is also compatible with XP wireless headphone options, the MI-6 wireless pinpointer, and the XP Go Terrain smartphone app. Go Terrain can record finds and track detecting routes using your smartphone's GPS.
This gives ICON owners room to change coil size, add accessories, or expand an existing XP setup without replacing the detector platform.
The search coil, remote control, and compatible wireless headphones communicate through XP's proprietary digital wireless protocol rather than standard Bluetooth.
XP specifies approximately 4 ms of latency across 36 automatically selected channels, keeping target audio closely synchronized with the position of the search coil.
Audio can be routed through the remote speaker, compatible wireless headphones, wired audio, or XP BH-02 bone conduction headphones depending on the setup being used.
The ICON remote is IP68 rated.
With its standard cap installed, the remote can be immersed to 1.5 m or 5 ft for up to 30 minutes.
For deeper underwater detecting, the ICON can operate to 5 m or 16 ft for up to 30 minutes when properly configured with the optional XP BH-02 bone conduction headphones and underwater waveguide.
The underwater waveguide maintains communication between the wireless search coil and remote when submerged.
The ICON uses XP's S-Telescopic Lite stem and 11" FMF search coil.
XP lists the detector at approximately
The telescopic stem collapses to approximately 58 cm for transportation and extends to 130 cm for use.
The remote can also be removed from the stem, allowing the swing weight to be reduced further during long hunts.
The ICON uses rechargeable Lithium Polymer batteries throughout the wireless system.
XP rates the remote, search coil, and compatible wireless headphones at approximately 11 hours of use, depending on configuration and audio output. Charging takes approximately 3 hours.
The remote also supports software updates through XP's online updater, allowing the detector's software to be updated as XP releases future improvements.
The ICON is manufactured in France and carries LONGTIME® certification, an independent European label recognizing products designed around durability, repairability, and long-term support.
XP provides a 3-year manufacturer warranty as standard. Registering the detector after purchase extends the original warranty to 5 years. An optional additional 5-year XP warranty extension is also available for eligible ICON detectors.
