Review by Brian on April 13, 2020

In the last two years I have been back into the sport, I bought a lot of detectors. Tesoro, Garrett , Bounty Hunter Land Ranger Pro, Fisher F44, Simplex, Teknetics Eurotek Pro, Equinox 600, and a Patriot...Sold/gave them all away to family members but one. The Eurotek pro.. I love Teknetics products and after watching a couple reviews in decided to try a T2... 2 days out using it, I have now discovered this is what I been looking for. This detector goes deep, gives steady number readings, well balanced, and I love the ground balance/pin point trigger. A no brainer 5 star rating for me..Brian Smith
    • ★★★★★ Great Detector, I Love it at Abandon Colonial

Review by Daniel H on February 2, 2015

I got my Teknetics T2 SE back in July 2013. Before then I found nothing before the 1800's with my other metal detector. That all changed within three days. Three days after buying my T2 SE I found a large colonial coat button, since then I have found many more colonial buttonS, my record is eight in one day, but finding my first colonial find was amazing.

I started 2014 in March with some colonial finds, at that point I had a new goal, find a really old coin. In early March that happened, I blew away my old record of my oldest coin being from 1904 and ended up finding a 1723 Wood's Hibernia Halfpenny. A week later a dateless 1727-1740 young head King George II Halfpenny. Another week later I found a Key Date 1861 New Brunswick Half Cent with only 5,000 known but it was in horrible condition, the edge of it was actually crumbling when you touched it. At this point it was June and I found an 1805 Large cent and an 1838 Large cent plus a bunch of colonial buttons and a few colonial shoe buckles and my favorite relic from that month, a 1700's brass Whiskey spigot. My oldest coin was found in July, a dateless young head Louis XIV Laird from 1655-1658. In August I found more buttons and other relics of sorts. September brought my best coin of the year in which I will talk more about below, and November was my best month metal detecting, I found many buttons each time out, a few old coins including a 1696 British William III Half penny and a King George II Young Head Halfpenny turned into a colonial era Whizzer Toy, I think it is more unique than a normal Half Penny from the time. My best relic of the year was found in November too which I will talk about below. December was my last full month metal detecting and it brought more colonial finds including shoe buckle fragments and colonial buttons. I finally got permission to detect a farm field I always wanted to detect.
    • ★★★★★ T2

Review by Jason T on December 23, 2014

Great detector, light weight - probably the best detector for gold. Gets great depth, but the claims of this being the deepest detector on the market are just not true. I put this detector up against my E-Trac on depth and the E-Trac is still hard to beat on depth! I do love this detector. If you want a detector that finds gold, this is the best hands down even against the best gold detectors on the market today it will beat them all!! For $900.00 this machine is worth every penny when it comes to gold prospecting ! The only thing I can say that I am not happy with on this detector is that it jumps from all metal mode to discrimination mode constantly when in use on the field and you have to keep re-setting the detector back to the mode you want. I don't know if I have a problem with it or not but it is frustrating when you are hunting and have to stop and change it back because it has a mind of its own. This is why I gave this machine 3 stars otherwise I would have given it 5 stars overall. But that problem is something that is pretty bad when on the field, when you get your detector set up the last thing you want to do is have to set it all up over and over again.

Great machine with good depth and separation. Runs neck to neck with the F75 except I feel the T2 has a better threshold than the F75.
    • ★★★★★ Best of My 6 Metal Detectors!

Review by Dale M on December 12, 2014

I have been detecting for 8 years and belong to a detecting club. I am among the top guys in the club for good finds, thanks to the Teknetics T2 detector. Gold rings, silver coins (Barber & Mercury dimes, Liberty quarters, etc.). My oldest coin is an 1869 Indian penny. The only bad thing about the T2 is electrical interference near power lines, but overall a great machine.
    • ★★★★★ 6 Months Later -

Review by Steve P on July 28, 2014

I love this detector and it has found me many, many relics, coins and war artifacts since buying it 6 months ago. In fact I believe if I cashed in everything I've found I could cover at least 50% of my detector's cost...but it's not about that right?

Today I found a Standing Liberty silver half dollar, a silver Washington quarter, and a 1910 V nickel. This was in heavy thick forest and brush 12" high. I used the Boost Mode and that kept me in the game despite not being able to keep the coil close to the ground. Last week I found 7 wheat pennies and a Mercury silver dime. Before that a silver war nickel, 1812 button, large cents dating back to 1802, civil war belt buckle, more silver mercury coins, buttons, silver rings, earrings,1700's shoe buckles and buttons, and the list goes on.

The conditions I've used the detector have varied from rocky to clay-soil, and sand. Marine and lake environments, as well as areas scattered with tons of trash. With the 7 frequencies I have almost always been able to cut through the clutter. Sometimes, however, I cannot stop the chatter which gets on my nerves. I've tried doing what the manual recommends to no avail but alas it's a very sensitive machine. The two modes of use come in handy but the all-metal mode is now seldom used as my skills have now improved to where I use the other mode almost exclusively, which brings me to my next point: this machine remains capable and advanced even as I have improved in skill dramatically.

My only issues are as follows:
    1. The on / volume knob is right at your hip if you're right handed. The volume can be bumped easily and either go silent or really loud. It's small but annoying.
    2. When put down the detector tips easily, causing the knob on the display to hit the ground. This can cause mode change or setting changes.
    3. Sometimes my read outs on the VDI bounce around a lot. In my opinion more than they should at times.
    • ★★★★★ T2 is a Great All Around Machine!!

Review by Brian H on November 6, 2013

I love this machine! It's one of the most underrated machines out there. It's durability and lightweight makes it perfect for any kind of hunting. I hunt a lot of Civil War sites and this machine Is perfect for me. The depth of the T2 is unrivaled by other machines any where near the price range. The sensitivity brings those buttons, gold or silver a lot closer. The T2's quick response time makes it great for trashy parks or iron infested home sites. You can expect 40 hours of battery life from decent batteries. The only cons I have is the inability to hold it's settings, but it takes all of 10 seconds to redo them. Wish it had a back lit screen but I can live without that also. This machine is perfect for my needs. All around a great machine.
    • ★★★★★ Great Machine!!

Review by Cousin E on December 14, 2012

This machine is wonderful!! Super sensitive and finds the deep coins / relics. It is a bit chatty, but this is mostly due to my horrible soil conditions. Reopens previously hunted areas.

Great value, I purchased the Teknetics T2 Special Edition, I had printed off the instruction manual prior as I waited for the detector to arrive, so I was familiar with the features and basic operation. Once it was delivered I found it simple to assemble and got started hunting in my yard. Within 20 minutes of searching I got a ZIP ZIP and a 90+ reading, pinpointed the object using the trigger system on the T2 and began digging, about 6 to 7 inches down I unearthed a 1945 Silver Half Dollar Walking Liberty!! I am hooked and recommend this detector, even for a Newbie.

A good friend of mine let me use his T2 for a while. After I used it, I had to buy one. I was lucky to get one off Ebay fitted with an SEF 12x10 coil. I am from the UK and my find rate for Roman coins has gone way up on a site that has been thrashed by other machines. My usual settings Sens 75 Disc 20 sounds 2+ Freq. 7 - found some of the late Roman coins that have been tiny, just 5 mm diameter. It is good in iron infested areas too. With 2+ you can move through without too much rechecking. On grass sites, I tend to go a little higher on the sens say 80. It is a great machine and I would not use anything else now, except perhaps a Ltd Edition one!

    Review by Silverman777 on July 16, 2009

I bought the Teknetics T2 after many hours on the net looking at various makes, models, and prices. A friend suggested I buy the T2 and I came across several websites blowing it's horn. Then I looked at second hand T2 machines thinking if they are good there won’t be any for sale and I was right, I could not find a single one. So I dipped in my reserves and bought one. After several outings, I am convinced I bought the best machine money can buy. With the right settings, the T2 should be illegal! They are Sensitivity 70 Discrimination 5 and Tone 2+. With this setting, you will find more goodies than most other detectors and you can use it everywhere including stubble pastures and leveled ground (not for beach use). You will be able to hold your own everywhere, just listen for the sounds. A high pitch sound is a good target, a low grunt is iron. If you hear a high pitched sound and a grunt almost at the same time, remember the T2 reset time is a part of a second. When in doubt DIG. The T2 won’t lie to you. I dug many of the “dodgy” signals and found winners and, yes, some large pieces of iron because the electric conductivity is higher. But when the signal bounces, meaning move between high and low signals never giving the same reading on the meter, then it is iron or rubbish, dig a few to convince yourself. Trust the T2’s signals and listen carefully. Bury a few different metals like silver, copper and a gold ring and swing over it several times a day! Leave them buried so the ground can settle, pour water over it. It helps to settle the ground. Then before you go out swing the T2 over your targets and listen and remember the sounds! Then you are ready to go and find the goodies! Buy one and you will not be sorry! Oh yeah, I do not work for Teknetics. I do not know anyone that does and I am the most horrible customer anyone can have. I just love to complain! It’s deep it’s very fast and it will make you look good!

I got my Teknetics T2 a few months ago. I just turn one knob and start hunting. It gets great depth and is easy to understand. I hunt in town mostly for coins and rings, and I was having trouble with the large coil in trash areas. Kellyco now sells a 5.5" coil that will make it much easier to pick up nickels and rings. I just set discrimination at 55 and power at 90. I also set tones at 3.6. This helps you tell the difference between nickels and pull tabs. I love the big coil in areas with not so much trash. I think the 5.5" coil will help each Teknetics T2 owner find much more. I am a retired marine and have been using detectors since 1960. I'm also 74 years old and still going strong. Try the 5.5" coil, you will find twice as much. Good hunting.

I purchased the Teknetics T2 about a month ago and found it very easy to use. Basically, it’s a turn on and go detector. What I like about it is the balance and light weight. I can hunt for several hours and not get tired of swinging the unit. I got the unit for two main reasons. One is to coin shoot which this unit does exceptionally well and secondly to prospect with. I haven’t had the opportunity to nugget hunt yet but hopefully in the near future. I would recommend this unit for anyone and everyone. It is really easy to use, set up and / or make changes due to soil conditions. Most of my finds so far have been clad coins in the tot lots and parks.

Review by Robert W on April 20, 2008

Thirty years ago, coins were being found right under the sod level. As metal detecting became more and more popular, the coins close to the surface naturally started disappearing. Today, with a lot of the easy coins already found a detector needs to be able to find coins a foot deep or deeper. I personally have found coins and jewelry as deep as fifteen inches. A detector today will tell you what you found, how deep it is and pin-point it for you - taking out a lot of the guess work.

Aluminum pull tabs from pop and beer cans plagued our city parks and schoolyards. Anyone that has used a detector has dug up more pull tabs than anything else. Pull tabs can be eliminated today but if you eliminate them you also are going to eliminate some coins so I dig everything! Always trying to improve their product, manufacturers try to bring out at least one new model a year. I have spent a lot of money trying to keep up with the latest improvements. One diamond ring I found four years ago has more than paid for my hobby, plus it's a lot of fun. I was hunting a large church yard in Ohio a few years ago and I found a heavy gold cross worth about two hundred dollars. While visiting my son in North Carolina, I always look for Civil War relics. I haven't found any rare relics yet but there's always next year.

I have used many detectors in the 30 years I have been in the hobby. And I have found over 100,000 coins not to mention the hundreds of rings, tokens, baggage checks, watch fobs, etc. I now have used the Teknetics T2 for two years now, and can with out a doubt say that it is the best detector I have ever owned. I love the lightness, the tones, and the depth it gets. Plus, it’s hot on coins. Dimes are my favored coin to find. I hunt two or three times a week. I’m also 69 years old and counting. I hope that everyone else who does this hobby is having as much fun as I am! If any one out there has never tried the T2 then you are missing out. I say this with conviction.

I liked the service that Teknetics gave me when I had to send it in for minor check up. It was swift and they sent me a letter to let me know what they did to my T2.

The Teknetics T2 detector is very well made and works good. It is almost too sensitive, and somewhat hard to figure out as a newbie. I have had some trouble with it telling me that it is a quarter, but in fact it was just some tin roofing material. The machine is very light weight and easy to swing all day long. It has an adjustable audio tone control witch is very nice. Volume control works well. It has a port for headphones. You get about 40 hours on two AA batteries. I will figure it out given enough time.

I was first introduced to metal detecting many years ago by a good friend, he was patient and understanding of my all too many questions, "what's this for, how does it work, what does that dial do." After watching him for a very long time I started my search for the ideal machine. I ended up purchasing my Teknetics T2 used from a local dealer who, like my friend, was patient with all my questions.

Once home I headed to the side yard and anxiously fired up the machine to find what treasures might be in my yard. This 60 year old country home had never been searched, so imagine my excitement as I put on my headphones and made my first scans. It had not been long when my first signal hit, anxiously I carefully dug to find a penny, 1960's era. Cleaning up after myself I tried again and within a few steps yet another strong signal, this time a little more calmly I was to discover yet another 1960 era penny. As the day went on and every signal turned out to be a penny of the same time frame.

Every signal carefully dug and holes filled in, every signal investigated to be sure of what it was, and every keeper turned out to be a 60's era penny... all fifty of them! This machine is great under many hunting conditions the kids playground, beach, and under the clothesline (no pennies there but lots of small toys) and has served me well, for a long time.
