Updating Your Minelab Vanquish 540

Minelab Metal Detectors has rolled out a new software update for Vanquish 540 metal detectors as of August 2020. This new update has enabled Iron Volume Control, allowing you to control how much iron you hear. There are now 10-step adjustments enabling you to decrease the sound of iron down to a whisper. To turn on Iron Volume Control, hold down the All Metal button while also using the Volume buttons to increase or decrease the sound of Iron.

How To Update your Equinox 600 and Equinox 800:

  1. Connect the Vanquish 540  to the computer via the USB port.
  2. Turn on the Vanquish 540 . Only one Vanquish 540  can be connected to your computer at a time during the software update.
  3. When the Vanquish 540  is discovered by your computer. the MUU will “talk” to your detector and determine which update your machine currently has.
  4. If an update is available for your Vanquish 540  metal detector, your computer will display “Update are available for your detector.”
  5. Click the yellow INSTALL button to begin the installation process. (If your Vanquish 540  is already up to date, your computer will display “Your detector is up to date” and prompt you to close the application.)
  6. During the installation process, the screen on your Vanquish 540 screen will show “up” and the first discrimination segment will blink quickly while the update takes place.
  7. Installation should take one minute to complete.
  8. Once the software installation is complete, your Vanquish 540  will restart itself and the application will ask you to disconnect the machine’s USB cord and close the application.
  9. To update another Vanquish 540  metal detector, disconnect all machines, restart the application, and begin the process again.
