What CSI Equipment is used the most in the industry?

There are all kinds of equipment used by crime scene investigators. There are things like evidence tape, barrier tape, trajectory kits, measuring devices, casting materials, blood collection devices, DNA collection devices, alternate light sources, and many other pieces of equipment. Kellyco is proud to be able to fill the slot of metal detection devices. Whether looking for a shell casing or a bullet, or whatever other metal object the crime scene may hold, the metal detectors we have in stock will get the job done right. We offer metal detection equipment for both underwater search and land use.

Which Crime Scene Supplies Do I Need?

When it comes to the metal detection of crime scenes, there are a couple major considerations that need to be considered. The first of these is will you ever encounter a crime scene near salt water or in deep water? If this is the case, you will want to look into pulse-induction metal detectors, as they perform much better in salty conditions or when diving deep. Another large consideration is how much equipment you want. At the very least, it would be a great idea to have a land use metal detector, a pulse-induction metal detector for deeper water, and a pinpointer for both land use and water use. With these four items, you should be able to find metallic evidence pieces no matter what went down and where it went down.

What Is the Best CSI Metal Detector?

As discussed in the last paragraph, choosing the best CSI metal detection equipment depends on what you require. That being said, there are a few detectors that Kellyco offers that would fill this niche perfectly. Here is a brief overview of some land use, general purpose detectors. The Garrett CSI PRO and the Garrett AT PRO are both great options from an American-made company. These are submersible to 10 feet and can find the smallest pieces of evidence. The Nokta Macro is a great option as well, as it can be used for both underwater and land use. Consider the Minelab Equinox 600 or the Equinox 800, as they will both serve you very well. Land use pinpointers are vital, as they will help you find small targets, such as bullets, once you begin digging. The Garrett Propointer is great for above ground use, as well as shallow underwater use.

Underwater gear is vital when you have to go deep or you are in salt water. Pulse-induction detectors are different and are excellent for salt water use. Any of the Aquascan Aquapulse metal detectors are great, as they can dive as deep as you want, provide excellent recovery speed, and will help you find evidence quickly. The Minelab Excalibur II is another great pulse-induction machine that allows for an easy-to-use underwater search effort. The Garrett Sea Hunter Mark II is an excellent machine for the price, allowing you to get some great features out of a low-price machine. Underwater pinpointers are important, as they will help you find your evidence more quickly. The Nokta Macro Pulse Dive Pinpointer is a great, low-cost option that will serve you very well. Virtually any of the land use and underwater CSI detectors are excellent and will perform well.
