The numbers on the display screen of the White’s M6 were reading +83 Target ID at a depth of 9″. The signal was under overhanging bushes near the center of a park. Since the area dated back to the mid 1880’s, with a nearby military establishment, an old silver coin definitely came to mind. Although well hunted by detectorist over the last 30 years, the location still produces a pleasant surprise now and then.

Dennis has been metal detecting, coin shooting, and treasure hunting for past 21/2 years. It was only when he retired that his ambition to get a metal detector and find treasures was realized. Having retired in central Florida, he naturally visited Kellyco and J.W. sold him his first metal detector. Dennis soon became a very frequent visitor and decided to put in an application for a sales position on part-time basis so he would have the benefits of being involved in metal detecting and still have time to pursue his love of coin shooting.
Dennis has undergone extensive training and is very competent in the entire field of hobby detectors. He [...]
To begin I’d like to explain a little about why I wanted to write a review of the F75. My first detector was purchased by my wife in 1980. As most well know, the machines back then, had very little depth and hardly, if any, discrimination. Since that time I’ve owned three other detectors from two different manufacturers, not to include my present Fisher F75. Being a procrastinator, (in the biggest way) I\’d dragged my feet for over a year before choosing the F75. I had read every article and review that I could find before my purchase in March of 2009.
After buying the machine from Badger Metal Detectors (Gene Scullion) I was [...]
After having the pleasure of using the Detech 10×12″ SEF search coil a few years ago before they became widely available for distribution, I was hoping their new 13″ Ultimate search coil would be a similar rock-steady, deep performer… and possibly even better. Well, only time will tell if the Ultimate search coil ends up being touted as “better” for me but for now I’d say I’m very impressed… VERY! I have been using a buddy’s Ultimate 13″ search coil for a couple of weeks and have put quite a few hours on it on both my SE and E-Trac. After all the nice finds I made with his, I finally got one of my own recently and was [...]
My name is Mike Bearden and I live in north Alabama. I have been metal detecting since 1969.
I have used just about every brand of metal detector offered to the public in the last 30 odd years and really enjoy metal detecting and field testing different product lines.
Kellyco sent the new Teknetics Gamma 6000 to me to see how well it will perform in my area which is heavily saturated with iron ore and red clay.
I live in the middle of the iron ore belt that stretches from 150 miles north of my home and on down below Birmingham, Alabama.
This ground has proven to be very tough [...]
