Product Description

White's MX7 Metal Detector
with 9.5" Waterproof Concentric Search Coil.

Packed with advanced features and class-leading performance, the MX7 is a lightweight, rugged metal detector built for demanding hobbyists looking to step up to the big-leagues without the sticker shock. At only 3.5 lbs, the MX7 delivers exceptional depth, recovery speed, and ergonomics at an unheard-of price.

For the "beep and dig" types, get started with six preset programs (Coin and Jewelry, All-Metal, Beach, Prospecting, Relic, and High Trash) and easy-to-access threshold, gain, ground, and pinpoint modes. Pressing the Options button accesses more controls, with user-adjustable Volume, Threshold, Depth Units, Backlight Level, Frequency Shift, Salt Track, Program, Self-Adjusting Threshold, Iron Grunt, VCO, Reject Volume, and Discrimination Mask. The included 9.5" concentric coil makes pinpointing targets easy, and offers incredible depth in mild to moderate soils (optional accessory coils include all MX Sport coils).

Due to its 13.9 kHz operating frequency, the MX7 excels at locating smaller targets, such as hammered silver coins and small gold earrings. The MX7 features a robust transmit circuit compared to other models in its price range, and is capable of extreme depths on coin-sized objects. As a relic-recovery device the included Reject Volume can easily identify iron patches as well as help unmask very deep or hidden targets in stubborn sites. A high-powered on-board speaker, rear-mounted 1/4" headphone jack, and large, backlit display complete the design, complimented by the high-visibility black and orange color scheme. IP 54 rated - dust and water-resistant display and box.

    • ★★★★★ Excellent choice!

Review by Johnny on September 8, 2020

I have had many detectors. I have a Minelab Excalibur, but wanted something lighter for the woods. I carefully looked at the descriptions of the Whites. (My 1st choice for a new one). It seemed a little complicated with the options, but I'm sure I will get used to them. Took it out on coins/jewelry factory settings, and found 2 brass buttons, one says Massachusetts Volunteer Militia! I also found an old coin or token, and a musket ball. Very nice first outing with it. Second run I found about 6 clad coins in a highly trashy area(used the trash mode). So enough said. It's an excellent detector, especially for the price.
    • ★★★★★ Great detector

Review by mercdime on June 10, 2020

I have this model from Whites. It is a great detector. Very sensitive. It is very similar to a beep dig machine as far as its performance on the coin and jewelry program. Makes me think of my granddads old 6000 di (only much easier to use). Finds things super deep. Finds everything. Prepare to dig. Small copper buttons at 8 inches? No problem. It has found them while my other high end detector from another company did not. It is also great on nickels. Found the oldest coin in my yard with it. A 1927 buffalo nickel. Also found a 1943 steel penny with it. Many detectors will overlook them. The coin and jewelry program is geared to find not just coins but also jewelry. Therefore you will be looking at harvesting some foil and aluminum. If this concerns you watch the vdi numbers for fluctuation and do not dig if it bounces around a lot or notch out foil and tabs while accepting the possible loss of gold. I have confidence it will find whatever is out there though. This model excels at old overgrown house sites as the concentric coil is deep and sensitive even an inch or so off the ground due to high mashed down grass. If you purchase this model consider getting the six shooter sniper coil. It is also great for tight spots, trashy areas, and is deep as it is also a concentric. Be patient while you hunt, practice and learn this detector., and it will find whats there. You cant go wrong with it.
    • ★★★★★ Excellent Detector

Review by Senior Digger on March 14, 2018

The MX7 has lived up to its expectations as hyped I have used this detector mainly at the beach. In the dry sand it identifies targets at 85% accuracy and especially good on dimes, quarters and nickels. Quick recovery speed between targets. The automatic ground tracking is very good from dry to wet sand. The only hang up that I have is the false signals in wet sand. Not as good a multi frequency detector. I like its light weight and easy setup. I haven't used this much on land but I have heard some good things about it. I believe it is as good if not better than the Garret AT Pro as I have used the AT at a beach last summer. It's a very good detector in this price range. This is the first White’s that I have liked.

Q: Does this work under water. In 3 foot of water on a sand bar

    A:

The White's MX7 is not waterproof. It will not work under 3 foot of water without ruining the control box. The White's MX Sport Metal Detector is waterproof to 10 feet and would work perfect!
