Junk

Review by Kennyb on February 21, 2019

I bought the Vulcan 360 (old version) several years back brand new. I believe it was the latest thing out so of course I paid top price. It was my first pinpointer so I didn't have any experience and had no idea that pinpointers where not supposed to go off for no reason or take forever to turn on which you have to cycle it off and on allot due to all the falsing. Had I known what a pinpointer should do I would have sent it back immediately. After learning more about pinpointers and looking at reviews on this one it is obvious it is junk and sellers knew it. It works ok on level 3 but above that it's junk. I didn't buy it to use at half sensitivity. I wish I would have bought the Garrett AT and I believe it was cheaper at that time. At least if you do buy a Vulcan they are dirt cheap these days. I'm sure it's because the new version is not much better.

Hope the New Model is Better than the Older Version

Review by Jeffrey on October 14, 2017

I have 3 of the "older model" Vulcans. I'm not saying they are a bad pinpointer, but the sensitivity was and is uncontrollable past level 3. Anything past 3 and they ALL would just go berserk, forcing you to shut them off and reset them to level 3. I now strictly use the Propointer II and it has never caused me a moments grief. Easy on batteries (even the cheapo ones) and has great penetration.

Much Better Design

Review by Martin on February 12, 2017

The "new design" is a BIG improvement over the original one. I run mine on level 5 most of the time because it speeds up the recovery time. Lower sensitivity levels do not pickup clad coins as well when they are "end on" especially dimes. I also use a protective plastic cap that might be affecting the sensitivity some. One thing that might have been nice is a lanyard attachment hole/slot. I attached one by doubling the cord, sliding it toward the big end and securing it with electrical tape.

360 Pin-Pointer Vulcan

Review by Stephen on January 28, 2017

Sensitivity is squirelly and sometimes you need it more than others. And it goes through batteries way too fast. Nine volts are about $5.00 each at least for the good ones and every third trip out needs a new one. And the problem with the battery cap is a little late. They never explained that the old model was NOT water resistant cause it most definitely was not as stated on advertisement. I don't know about the rest of you but $120.00 is a lot to spend on a pin-pointer and I guess I was expecting more for my money than what I got.
