1774 First Silver Find
By: RA S.
During a recent hunt at a rural Marshall County WV Church site, I found this 1774 Spanish colonial Carolus III. My detectoring partner, Mark, & I had pulled many coins and trinkets from the ground; however, we were both completely shocked and passed the coin back and forth until we both agreed that indeed it was a colonial find sitting 7" below the surface. Better yet, after a year of detecting I had never found a silver coin. I upgraded from a Bounty Hunter to a Minelab CTX 3030. To have my first silver find be a 240 years old coin, was extremely special.
