Minelab Safari Metal Detector
with 11" DD Search Coil

Astounding Performance! - Affordable Price! While most metal detectors on the market operate at one or two frequencies, the Minelab Safari features a Full Band Spectrum (FBS) of 28 simultaneously broadcasting frequencies. That’s like having 28 different metal detectors all searching for silver coins, gold rings, and hidden caches, at the same time. The Safari offers advanced automatic ground compensation for virtually all soil conditions, as well as automatic noise canceling for stubborn electromagnetic interference. With 51 linear discrimination points, the Safari gives you exceptional levels of control over what you’re looking for and makes iron trash a thing of the past. All these features and more ensure you’ll be digging crystal clear signals on better targets, deeper and more often. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a life-long coin shooter, the Safari’s best-in-class performance and out-of-the-box ease of use make it the perfect detector you.

First Time Detector... LOVE IT

Review by Dominick on July 09, 2017

I have to say first that Chris O'Connell at Kellyco was awesome. He gave me a few detectors to fit my need and told me to go watch videos to see what I like best. I went with his advice and purchased the Safari from Minelab. He helped me with discounts, specials and other items which made me feel great.

I don't know much about metal detecting, but this thing goes deep. I was finding items at 2 feet deep. I kept asking myself if this was normal. My 2nd day on our property in New Hampshire I found an 1816 Matron head large cent and just a foot away I found a 1817 Matron head large cent with 15 Stars. I started screaming. A friend found an 1838 large cent as well.

It's going to take some getting used to figuring out the tones but man oh man did I have fun. Thanks Chris and I look forward to heading back up to our property for some more fun.

My family has been metal detecting for over 15+ years, we're relic hunters and we've used Garrett, Tesoro, White's, Fisher, and Nautilus. I can tell you this is one of the easiest to use detectors I've used, and will only take you a little practice to understand the sounds for the different types of metal, they're all pretty distinct. I enjoyed the fact that this machine has a constant depth read out, it takes only a little practice to understand it and didn't have to be switched to pin point mode to show depth like some other machines I've used. The other feature that this machine clearly has is amazing depth. I even went back to a site I've hunted for a couple years averaging about 2 trips a week, I would've sworn this site was almost hunted out, however on my first trip with the Minelab Safari I was able to recover several bullets, an Indian head penny, and even an Early Navy Button and all of these targets were recovered at 8+ inches in depth in an area that several other machines didn't pick up a clear signal from. It goes deeper than the White's currently in our group and just as deep as the Fisher F70's in our group with larger objects. However where the depth has really shown to stand out is smaller objects such as cuff buttons and small coins. The only draw back to this machine is that its a little slower at target recovery than other machines I've used. This is a machine I'd highly recommend to any level of detector newbie or vet. You're sure to go back into old spots and have new finds.

Great Machine from a Great Company

Review by Ron V on February 09, 2015

I bought my Safari back in November. I read a lot of reviews that had people saying it takes a while to get used to this machine and many hated it until they got used to it and then they love it. This was not the case for me. This was only my second machine and I found when I took it out the first time that it was very easy to use and understand. Of course it will take me many more hours to understand all the little subtle things it is trying to tell me. This machine has amazing depth capability and is extremely sensitive so there are times when you will get the faintest little signal that you may be tempted to ignore but once you dig you realize that it was a dime 14" in the ground. So like I said, you really need to become very observant of what the machine is telling you, but once you get a good grasp you will be amazed at the capability of this machine. In my opinion this machine is every bit as good as the E-Trac but for only 2/3 of the price. I highly recommend this machine for anyone of any level of experience that wants amazing performance at an affordable price (relatively speaking).

Now I would like to give you a quick review on the service I got from Kellyco. This was my first time ordering from a metal detector company and considering I was planning to spend about $1300 with them I was a little apprehensive. I dealt with Blake Hattaway directly over the phone and I will tell you that it was a very smooth and comforting transaction. He was able to give me some excellent information about my machine and the hobby in general and he was very willing to do whatever it took to make sure I was getting the most for my money, that I was happy with my purchase and he has followed up with me several times since to make sure I am still happy with my machine. I am a Kellyco customer for life. They are just a great company period.

Minelab Safari - I Agree with Everyone Here

Review by Frank M on May 15, 2014

I got my Minelab Safari a few months ago from Kellyco. Forget eBay. After seeing all the videos on YouTube with the Safari I decided to get it. I agree with everyone's review here. Easy to use, goes "deep" and is perfect for the beach. Once you learn the tone ID for this unit it makes things a lot easier. It does have a "slow" recovery speed. The detector does perform as advertised.I'm not sorry I got it.The reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because of its slow recovery speed and for the money spent on the Safari, Minelab could have given a few more options with the unit. Like an lcd color display. They could have made the volume a little louder also. But all in all,I'm satisfied with the Safari. It performs as advertised.

Fantastic Detector

Review by Mark A on April 14, 2014

I purchased my Safari a bit over two years ago and have used it quite a bit. I am impressed with everything about it. Very easy to use out of the box, nice functions, display is clear and detection is accurate. I detect with it in the southwest and with the ground balance I have never had it chatter on me yet. Even on the automatic settings I have no problem finding coins 8" deep. Once you get an ear for the tones, you know when it hits on a good target. I hunt in trashy areas and have many times picked up the subtle tone of silver next to iron. Go slow and from different directions and you cannot lose. I did upgrade to a lithium ion battery which lasts longer than the AA batteries. Weight is balanced and I rarely tire out from swinging it.
