Minelab Excalibur II Metal Detector with 10" Search Coil

Minelab Excalibur II Metal Detector with 10" Search Coil

Product Review (submitted on April 11, 2008):
I like the Excalibur model for several reasons. First, I am a diver and I needed one to go underwater. Second, I like the option of wading in the surf at the beach or snorkeling with it. Third, I like the multiple frequency technology. My dislikes are that it is just audio with no display. I suppose that is difficult to do with an underwater detector. I also use it a lot on land, and there it really needs a display to assist the operator in depth and possibly other information. I have been using an older White's model Eagle 2 SL. It's old but can hang with this new machine surprisingly well.

The White's seems to be easier to pinpoint and dig relic items. I expect to become more proficient with the Minelab and I am thinking about another detector soon. Not sure of what model. I do like what I have read about the White's DFX. I also like what I read about the Minelab Explorer 2. The Garrett GTI 2500 has an option I like where you can attach loops to use this machine for large deep objects. So I am undecided as to what my next detector might be. I do plan on getting another one fairly soon. I am somewhat disheartened by my finds this year, but I am in a rural area with no beaches close by. I am trying to find some Civil War camps nearby but have not had success at getting the landowner to allow me to search.
