Minelab Excalibur II Metal Detector with 10" Search Coil
- Product Review (submitted on April 3, 2008):
I purchased the Minelab Excalibur detector from Kellyco last spring, the representative was very helpful. I was considering the 800 model, but after a few questions, he suggested that I get the 1000 so I could cover more area with the larger coil. I'm glad I did. I have been detecting a number of years with my Eagle Spectrum with much success, I started looking at water detectors because I was putting a lot of wear on my knee's. The Excalibur was my first choice after doing research and hearing what other people had to say about this machine.
If I were to go on vacation, I wanted a machine that I wouldn't be disappointed with. Some of the less expensive models couldn't guarantee me that. Searching for jewelry is my primary goal. Nothing gets the blood pumping more than finding your first gold ring with your new detector. Mine was a 14k white gold man's ring. The detector was quite easy to use, with very few adjustments needed after initial setup, I did purchase the balancing shaft which I found helpful and easier to use. I liked the masking effect this machine has, even though the machine would tell me the target was bad I would still have to see what it was, most of the time it was usually hairpins, so it's accuracy was right on.
This is a machine that I would recommend to everyone, it's still a little cold here in Minnesota for water hunting, so I'll start detecting with my Eagle Spectrum first, Happy Hunting.
