I have been seriously detecting for about two years now. I've tried several detectors some of my detecting buddies use regularly from different manufacturers, liking some and hating others. I decided I preferred Minelab detectors for the depth of finds my friends have found and their glowing reviews of Minelab support. I also appreciated the feedback on some metal detecting forums I frequently read about Minelab products.

I borrowed a friend's Minelab X-Terra 50 for an afternoon hunt at an old park. It took a little getting used to the ground balance feature for optimum searching. After a little tutoring I was off to find treasure! I love the number id readout for different metals. I was about to find quite a bit of clad that first time out and a mercury dime also! After buying my own Minelab X-Terra 50 from Kellyco, I spent all my free time looking for treasure and getting used to my new detector. What a great new hobby! I found dozens of wheat pennies, several silver coins, and lots of lost jewelry including sterling silver rings and one 14K gold man's wedding ring!

About a year later I decided to purchase the 10" DD coil for my X-Terra 50 from Kellyco. What a great investment for increased finds! I started to find deeper coins including one wheat penny I dug at 10" down. I guess you can say I am extremely happy with my purchase of the Minelab X-Terra 50. It is an easy machine to use. Battery life is great - 4 AA batteries last me about 40 hours easily. Finding coins and identifying them before I dig is easy with the very accurate -9 to 45 ID. A great detector for a great price. You got to try one!!
