Minelab Safari Metal Detector
- Product Review (submitted on January 29, 2014):
- Have been detecting for several years. Previously owned several detectors (Fisher, Garrett, etc.). I must confess, I really liked my old Fisher (1266) and when I first got the Safari I wasn't sure I liked it. Now though, after hunting with it a few times, I've got the hang of it and its way better than any detector I've ever owned. I would suggest that those that buy it consider one of the smaller coils. The machine is so sensitive that a larger coil will drive you nuts in an area that has even a medium amount of trash. I bought a 7.5" DD and haven't looked back. In fact, I went back to a trashy field and found 3 coins that I missed with the bigger coil: 1910 barber, 1858 eagle penny and 1903 Indian cent. I would recommend this machine to anybody, even a beginner. My only complaint is the cheap armrest... sure would be nice if it was metal instead of plastic for the price of the detector. And, thanks to Steve at Kellyco for the advice.
