Garrett Sea Hunter Mark II Metal Detector
- Product Review (submitted on November 4, 2013):
- In my experience the machine is at its best when operated with zero discrimination. What that means is you will dig every target - which is a great deal even on so called "clean" beaches. So be prepared to dig sparkler wires, bits of zippers, single staples. BB sized metal, etc. Also be prepared, if you are careful enough and diligent enough, to recover targets as tiny as stud earrings. I recovered a tiny stud that took five minutes to find in the scoop sand when dumped on the beach - it was recovered in the rolling surf and was at least six inches down. This target came up so loud if it had been one of my land machines I would have thought it was a pound of can slaw. There were lots of other hunters on the beach that day using Minelabs, White's and all the usual suspects. But I found this target. Now let's be honest, I've hunted for a long time enough to know there is a high degree of luck - you have to pass over the "right" target. But everyone in my hunting club agreed there are few machines that could have detected a target with so little metal - they agreed so much my group jewelry find took second place at our last meeting. You decide - Minelab and all the other machines are for sure superb - look at your budget be honest with how much you want to dig and then take the plunge. I am a detectorist at heart so the more I dig the happier I am. Best to all.
