Review by Red on October 26, 2016

I have been detecting, since 1974. I have had many different detectors and brands, Whites, Bounty Hunter, Compass, Tesoro, Fisher and New Force to name a few. I have found thousands of dollars in coin and even much more in jewelry. I currently have a Fisher F4, the F70 and a very old but still working well New Force. I have had the F70 for three months now and already I have found over $1,000.00 in coin and over $3,000.00 in jewelry. The Fisher F70 is really making me very happy, my first day out with it I found a man's gold ring with two diamonds and a ruby on it. After I had it cleaned by a jeweler he offered me 3,000 dollars for it. I'm holding out, I think I can get much more for it.

Well you might think that was just a lucky find but I contribute the find to good research and the Fisher F70. Not only that ring was found that day. I also pulled out of the ground in the same area as the ring 6 silver dollars, 63 wheat pennies, 14 silver quarters, 9 silver dimes, and several nickles that I couldn't read the dates on, and that was just the first day at that site. Research - that's what I do before I go detecting. I'm not a park or playground type of searcher, I look for where old buildings once stood then I go searching in the areas that there once was a building, I also like to look around swimming holes and wherever there is a rope swing.

But a good detector is the key to finding more than what you would find with a not so good detector or cheap detector. The Fisher F70 is a very good detector and is one of the best I have ever had or used. The Fisher F70 is very easy to use and I would recommend even a novice to buy it for a first and maybe only detector purchase. It's that good, take my word for it I been doing this for 42 years now.

Well, I originally purchased the Fisher F70 based on other users' opinions of the machine, and so far I have been very well pleased with the F70's performance, ease of use, and light weight. The machine discriminates the various targets that lay close to each other extremely accurately, and identifies accurately, was well. This is with the standard 10" coil. This is a very simple machine to set up for use, as I have never operated a metal detector before, and this F70 is easy to adjust. One of the most appreciated characteristics of the F70 is its surprisingly light weight! I would HIGHLY recommend the Fisher F70 to anyone interested in the hobby of metal detecting.

I found that the detector has a learning curve but once you use it for a few hours it becomes easy to use. The thing I like most about the detector is the depth it gets - it gets great depth on all coins and it ID's them pretty good, also the built quality is very good. IMO, I'm into coin hunting and so far in three weeks I've hunted some hard hit sites and managed to pull 20+ wheat cents 30 some coins, and a mercury dime. I'm still learning it a little but so far it is a good machine. I'd recommend this detector to someone that has used another metal detector before. I would not recommend starting out with this detector because it can become very confusing with all the settings. I would suggest that if you're getting started into the hobby to look at the F2, Garrett Ace 250, or a Teknetics 4000 because these are a much easier machine to start with. Then once you get the hang of one of them for a while and are looking to get some deeper finds, get this detector... it's awesome!

This machine has a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it it rocks! Great machine will find coins and relics, it goes deep on coins and is a great detector all in all! 2 thumbs up!

I love my F70. It is so light and balanced. It is my second detector and a big upgrade. I put the F75 coil on it and I found a dime on edge at 5 inches down. I usually hunt for coins and jewelry. I wanted a detector that wouldn't hurt my arm because I have a small frame. Also, I enjoy the sounds much better than my other detector. I like the big number reading in front of it too. I am looking forward to finding deep targets at the beach. My other detector doesn't have ground balance but this one does! I highly recommend my F70 to anyone. The price is affordable too!

The Fisher F70 is a very easy detector to use. I have been used to using a 1991 White's Eagle Spectrum and compared to that, the F70 is a dream. This is a turn on and go machine. The F70 can be adjusted to most hunting that most people do. It is excellent for coins, great for relic hunting and from what I have heard, a very good gold nugget hunter. I love the light weight of this machine. Under 3 lbs. it is one of the lightest machines out and very easy to swing all day long. It is great for the older folks with arthritis and great for youngsters also. The ergonomics are very good and the machine is very comfortable to use. The screen is fairly large and the numbers are easy to read even in direct sunlight. The recovery speed is awesome which is great for trashy areas.

The 4 AA batteries last an amazing 40 hours or even more. I run 2650 MHA rechargeable batteries and I can go up to 65 hours until I get a low battery warning. I do a lot of coin shooting and the F70 is so good at finding coins that it is scary. You can swing very fast and cover a lot of ground with the F70. Depth is excellent with many coins found at depths of 10 to 14 inches depending of ground conditions. There are a few coils that are available for the F70. Any coil that can be used on the F75 can be used on the F70. My favorite is the 6 inch coil that is excellent in trashy areas like parks and school grounds. Several modes of operation are available and the F70 can be adjusted to just about any conditions.

I have found several silver rings, a few gold rings and tons of coins with the F70 in the 3 months I have owned it. More rings and coins in such a short time than any other machine I have ever owned so far. I would recommend the F70 to anyone who is looking for an under $750 machine that performs like an above $1000 machine.
