Bounty Hunter Gold Digger Metal Detector
Great for Beginning Prospectors!
The Gold Digger is just the ticket for any entry level Gold prospector, relic hunter, coin shooter, and treasure hunter. Highly recommended as a perfect detector for finding gold nuggets, coins and artifacts around old mining towns.
Slow Motion All Metal Mode for Easy Detecting of Small Nuggets
The stylish Gold Digger Metal detector will detect all kind of metal from iron relics, coins and household items to precious metals like silver and gold.
For more privacy when treasure seeking, the Gold Digger comes complete with headphones and 1/8" headphone jack for immediate use. It also comes with a Free Trial Subscription to Lost Treasure Magazine.
Motion All Metal Mode for Detecting All Types of Metal (Automated Motion)
The motion-type VLF detector with automatic ground balance is probably the most popular model generally used today. First of all, it is easy to use. Added to this are its capabilities for finding gold and silver coins, rings and jewelry that are almost equal to those of higher priced detectors. This capability becomes particularly apparent when both expensive and average-priced models are in the hands of a beginner.
Its always amazing to see a beginner find as much or more than an experienced detector user with a much more expensive detector. While most detector models from reputable manufacturers are capable, some will definitely detect gold, coins and treasure deeper than others.
Numerous models of automated detectors are manufactured today. Some offer more features than others, and some are just simply better. Automated VLF instruments are often referred to as "motion" detectors since they can be hovered over a target for only a few seconds because of their automatic circuitry. Consequently, slight search coil motion is always necessary. Certain models, however, can be scanned much more slowly than others. You will learn the capabilities of your instrument through practice.
Another technique to practice is pinpointing the target under the search coil, since hovering over a target is not possible. Simply stated, however, pinpointing generally presents no problem for anyone searching for valuables/treasures because the targets you will be finding can be considered comparatively large.
The automated VLF instrument ranks high among all types of detectors in detection depth. Not only is it capable of reaching to great depths to detect coins, but its extremely sharp and quick response signal is unmistakable when gold rings, coins and other objects are detected. In addition, all quality automated VLF detectors will offer some form of trash elimination through discrimination control(s). Many hobbyists find the automated VLF models satisfactory for many different types of metal detecting.

Review by David S. on April 8, 2016I am new to metal detecting. After purchasing a Bounty Hunter Gold Digger at one of the discount stores I found that I need a better one for what I am interested in. I am interested in gold prospecting. I need a metal detector that is better suited for gold prospecting. I found a few coins at playgrounds with my Bounty Hunter Gold Digger, but that's all. After talking to a few prospectors who belong to metal detecting clubs here in Georgia, they agree I need something better. I wouldn't recommend this metal detector to anyone else.
Review by Randall A on March 25, 2016If you want to buy your kid a metal detector or just want to dabble in this hobby without putting out a lot of cash, I would start with this model. It has auto ground balance and gives you control over discrimination which is good. We hunted with it in a yard heavily populated with nails and were able to screen out the nails and keep hunting.
Review by Gale B. on March 16, 2016I prospect for gold in the Arizona desert. I have used the Bounty Hunter Gold Digger detector and I find it very easy to use for the novice. I would recommend this detector to all novices. I will keep on using this detector until I cannot borrow it anymore. The owner will not sell it to me and does not use it. I find the tuning of the gold digger very easy too, and it does (at least to me) have a good bit of discrimination to it.
Review by My name is A on July 10, 2013An awesome detector for beginners. I found over 50 items JUST in our backyard! It only took about 5 hours. Some of those items included two meteorites, iron, a bullet shell, a lamp piece, a fence top, a key, a razor blade, nails, a spike from a railroad track, pipes, tools, giant screws, and a Canada dry bottle piece with the logo, which was buried with the bullet shell. It has its problems, but its an awesome piece of equipment with an awesome price.
Review by Kris on June 13, 2010This is a great detector for the money. I find myself leaving the trash eliminator in the off position and the power level in the high position. The Gold Digger will find any and all metal objects easy enough to operate for my 7 year old daughter and also lots of fun. Plus it did not break the bank.
Review by Dario R on August 23, 2009I would recommend this detector to anyone interested in a simple and positive detector without sophisticated modes.
Review by Leslie J on March 17, 2008In April of 2007, I purchased a Bounty Hunter Gold Digger Metal Detector. It has been one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.
Now there are those who would laugh and say “Hey, it’s just a cheap toy”. Well, the truth is, you hear and read so often how someone with a less expensive Detector goes out and finds as much if not more than those with Detectors that have a boat load of bells, whistles and knobs on them to contend with. Well, that someone is ME. I have found lots of coins, silver class rings, and other such items with it.
A SIDE NOTE HERE: You know, it has to be real irritating to someone who just laid down hundreds or maybe a thousand or so dollars for a detector only to learn they could do the same thing with a much less expensive unit.
You’ve also heard the statement, KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID (KISS). Well, it’s true, and that is exactly what the Gold Digger is, SIMPLE and easy to use. It’s a true turn on and go instrument. Just insert the two batteries, turn the switch on, set your discrimination knob to the position shown in the users manual for the targets you are looking for and GO. The detector does the rest.
I live in Arizona and have scanned fields, school yards, parks etc. in my local area and at many other locations along Highway 89 from Salt Lake City Utah to Phoenix Arizona and every time I go hunting, I have found something good.
Working together, the discrimination and the automatic ground balancing features in the Gold Digger saves you time and prevents you from having those back aches caused from digging junk. The tones the Gold Diggers gives for various targets are clear and unmistakable. Believe what it is telling you.
Because the Gold Digger is inexpensive while being an effective Detector, mine has already paid for itself and I have had it less than a year now.
