Captain Syd Jones first hand account of what it was like to be part of Mel Fisher’s “Golden Crew”. Syd shares his stories as one of the divers, boat captains and operations manager for almost 2 decades during the search and recovery of the Santa Margarita and the Nuestra Senora de Atocha. Never before published photos of the day--to--day operation and finds as well as original site maps sharing the history of the shipwrecks and the decades long search.
Syd is one of the very few people who worked in the ‘trenches’, day after day for almost two decades searching for and finding millions of dollars of Spanish colonial treasure that sank in 1622. Syd Jones started out as a diver, worked his way up to captain of several Fisher salvage vessels, and ultimately took over as the operations manager of the company in later years. He and his wife, KT also a diver for Treasure Salvors, were both essential to the daily workings of Mel Fisher’s famous salvage company for almost two decades. *This special edition is autographed by the author Captain Syd Jones.
