Garrett AT Pro Metal Detector

AT Pro is Garrett’s All-Terrain, All-Treasure, Deep-Seeking,
Professional Treasure Hunter’s Detector!

Why Buy Your AT Pro Metal Detector From Kellyco?

Stu Detecting in Antigua

1986 - 29 Years ago Charles Garrett and Stu Auerbach President of Kellyco went into the Caribbean on a treasure hunting expedition and to also field test the very first AT (All Terrain) metal detector on land and in the water. AT3 went on to become a favorite detector for thousands of detectorists.

Sept.17,2010 (L to R). David and Stu Auerbach from Kellyco Metal Detectors with Brent Weaver Director of Product Development for Garrett Metal Detectors getting "hands on advice" from Brent who directed the AT Pro Project to a very successful product introduction.

2011 - 25 years later Kellyco's Stu and David Auerbach were among the first to test and use the new AT Pro at the Garrett factory in September 2010. The AT Pro is now one of the most popular selling detectors for both land & water.

AT Pro Modes

Standard and Pro Audio Modes

In Standard binary audio mode, the AT Pro provides a full-strength beep regardless of a target’s amplitude. Many detectorists prefer this consistent binary (either on or off) target response. For those who want to hear more target information—similar to what is experienced with a True All-Metal detector—the AT Pro also offers a proportional (Pro) audio mode.

Proportional audio response allows the user to hear subtle changes in a target’s response. This allows the user to better judge a target’s size, shape and depth and has the additional benefit of a much faster recovery time when detecting adjacent targets.

AT Pro Target Response

Notice the differences in binary audio versus proportional audio in the two target scenarios above. The detector with binary audio gives a solid, consistent beep for both the shallow and the deep coin. In contrast, the AT Pro’s proportional audio provides a stronger signal for the shallow coin and a softer signal for the deeper coin. The actual profile, or signature, of the target’s response is heard, thereby providing more information.

AT Pro Target Info

These two adjacent coins would produce one strong signal from a binary audio detector. With proportional audio, a rise and fall of audio response allows the user to interpret the multiple targets.

Tone Roll Audio™

This feature provides the user with more audible target information to help identify targets, particularly iron objects. Metal detectors with binary audio produce a single target sound based upon the target’s strongest signal. Tone Roll Audio provides a variance of target tones as the search coil approaches, passes above and departs from a target. These varying phases, or tones of audio, provide better overall target information.

For many detectors with binary audio, bottle caps, steel washers, etc. sound like good targets, producing a high tone response. This is because the bottle cap’s shape and flat surface resembles a coin which tricks the detector. With Garrett’s Tone Roll Audio, however, the bottle cap will produce a very distinctive response with multiple tones. As shown, the bottle cap will produce a distinctive Low-High-Low response as compared to the coin’s High-only response.

AT Pro Water

All-Terrain Versatility

The AT Pro is engineered with a waterproof housing and connectors to protect in dusty, muddy, wet and humid environments. The AT Pro can be immersed in water to a 10-foot depth (maximum) to search in and along shorelines, rivers, piers, docks or swimming holes.

NOTE: Waterproof headphones (optional item shown in photo to left) must be used if the headphones are immersed in water. Standard headphones provided with AT Pro can not be submerged.

High-Res Iron Discrimination™

Use the (+) or (-) IRON DISC touchpads to precisely set iron discrimination to one of 40 levels for an unequaled ability to detect good targets amongst iron trash.

AT Pro Digital ID

The AT Pro's Digital Target ID system provides a specific target value to help identify buried targets more precisely. Targets are identified on the LCD screen by number, with items near 1 being the most ferrous. The most conductive targets (such as thick silver) register closer to 99.

The Target ID indicates a silver coin at 8 inches depth. The AT Pro's Pinpoint touchpad shows precise location. The Digital Target ID number of 85 corresponds with the Upper Scale Target ID Cursor.

AT Pro Digital ID Face

Iron Audio™

Scattered iron objects in the ground can mask good targets and even create “ghost signals” that appear to be a good target. Garrett’s selectable Iron Audio feature allows the user to hear discriminated iron (normally silenced) in order to know the whole picture and avoid being tricked into digging an undesired target.

Iron Audio also allows the user to adjust the mid-tone’s range to include all targets above the point of discrimination. The user is effectively adjusting the cut-off between Low-tone discriminated trash targets and mid-tone targets. This Garrett feature works in both Standard and Pro Modes on the AT Pro. (See illustrations to the right.)

Normal division of low, mid and high tones on AT Pro. Iron Audio is set to OFF.
With the iron discrimination set to 20, all targets below 20 are silent with the Iron Audio OFF.
With the Iron Audio feature ON, the targets below 20 are now heard as a low tone and the mid-tone is expanded down to 20.

Just What the Doctor Ordered

Review by David on March 11, 2017

The assembly of the detector was a little difficult - the waterproof plugs require good lighting and flexible fingers. Other than that, using the AT Pro was a pleasant experience. After viewing the CD video twice, I went immediately into Pro Mode. The depth and separation were amazing. I found a gold ring the first day out in an area that I detected many times with my ACE 350. I also found coins at 8" + depths (especially dimes) that my ACE 350 didn't detect. There is one caveat - you must dig deeper holes ! The trash discrimination is also very good with the AT Pro in Pro Mode. I can't wait for the weather to warm up here around Pittsburgh. I also use the Garrett Pin Pointer II - much more stable than the original pin pointer. The AT Pro is a cut above the ACE series detectors and is worth the extra dollars.

ATP is a Great Machine

Review by Chad on February 08, 2017

I own the ATP, Teknetics T2 SE and a White's V3i. If I'm just going out to coin shoot the ATP is my go to machine. Great lil machine and spot on!!

Great Buy

Review by Waverider on August 18, 2016

Bought a Garrett All Terrain back in June 2016 and it is non-stop coin collecting on Oahu. Surprise find so far is a silver ring, an earring and a Hawaiian necklace, all within 2 months. Guys... I gotta say mahalo to your product and keep up the good work!!! Aloha

Great Detector - Love It!

Review by Steve S. on August 11, 2016

As a novice user just starting out in detecting, I did a ton of research on brands and options and weighed those against the type of detecting I would be doing mostly here in Western WA. It all came down to ease of use and versatility, and the AT Pro delivers! Assembly and setup was a breeze, and although it came with a manual and a DVD, I also watched all the training videos on the Garrett website for some extra guidance too. My first trip to a small local beach had me finding coins in minutes. Yep, I found the usual bottle caps, and other trashy stuff too, but fine tuning my Iron and Notch Discrimination settings could easily weed out the bad "hits", focusing only on the good stuff. Took the 60 days SAC financing option here at Kellyco (which was a really smooth experience btw), got fast shipping, and Kellyco's Stevie Ray is an excellent resource for anything you want to know about detecting with a Garrett AT-series unit.

Best I've Used Yet

Review by Amy on June 01, 2016

This detector is great for all stages of users; beginners or seasoned. I thought long and hard before my purchase, and it was very worth it. Not only did I receive my shipment within 2 days, but having the backing of this company is amazing. The detector has already proven itself with my first trip out and an amazing find of a 1953 silver half dollar. It targets on point, and I'm actually favoring the number read out for the target ID compared to the target ID of the White's Prism IV I had been using. It has located many finds in a place I've searched with my dad numerous times over the past couple years with two different machines. I'm excited that it can be taken into water, so I will certainly be hitting the beach this year. Don't let a possible learning curve scare you away from this amazing detector.
