Old Axe Head
I have had my AT Pro for about a month. Went out the other day in Southern Georgia and found this old axe head. Too rusted to see any writing. I have not tried to clean it. I believe it is a Kelly axe head from the late 1800's....

I Bought My V3i Four Years Ago and What a Remarkable Metal Detecting Journey It's Been

This year I've only been able to hunt a month and a half so far because of the long winter, but what a month and a half it's been! I found my first ever colonial coin (1787 Connecticut copper), my first seated quarter, my oldest Canadian token and I've got my first gold for the year. 95% of all these finds I've found in the woods. I really love hunting in the woods, after winter mats everything down good. As a matter of fact my brother just gave me a call to go detecting and we're meeting at the woods where I found my seated quarter. I've been detecting for 25 years now, I started out with Whites and I was sol...

VX3 Finds Seated Half
I had always wanted to get into metal detecting but it wasn't until two years ago -- when I found the deal of a lifetime at an estate sale: two perfectly functioning XLTs for $50 -- that I finally got into the hobby. I did well with the XLTs and was very impressed with the customer service offered by White's and the passionate following that the brand has on the forums. Thus, when it came time for me to upgrade my detector, it was a no-brainer. I was sticking with White's. I chose the VX3 and got a 10x6 DD coil to go along with it. I have made some very good finds with the VX3/6x10 combo including a giant 12-gram 14k gold ring; a UC ...

First Gold with my old Whites XLT

I Broke out my Spectrum XLT on April 4th after a few busy years its still in good shape just has a few stripes in the LCD screen I've only used it about 20 or so times when new. I went to my local Beach and with in fifteen minutes I got my first Gold a Dragon Pin/Pendant (has both options on back). My test kit says it 18K it has a Ruby eye and is missing what I'm thinking is three pearl's on the Crown. Anyway that's what similar items on Google Images shows, Nice A!

Now I'm thinking on upgrading to the Whites V3I will See...

What Remains of a Soldier...

Some time ago while I was patrolling an area ( near where I live ), where in July 1944 U.S. troops have clashed and the German ones, including some splinters my CTX3030 gave me a number of distinct signals that ranged from a 12 -10 to a 14-12. very close .... at a depth of 10-12 cm...

4,000 Year Old Bronze Age Lunula

While out on one of our weekly digs with the Stour Valley Search and Recovery Club, in the heart of the Dorset countryside, I was privileged enough to find a piece of Bronze Age gold, with a possible age to it of approximately 4,000 years. It started like every Club dig with a friendly chat as we all started to arrive and then a quick briefing about the field we were going to detect in. The field was permanent pasture and the Club had visited it several times before. Previously I had only been there once. On that occasion I had only found a couple of small bronze coins and a Georgian halfpenny. As lunch time was approaching my finds b...

Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)

Our club has a monthly outing, this month we went to an old CCC camp near Cave Creek / Seven Springs, Az. I had not been hunting more than 15 minutes in the camp area and I got the nice reading of 38 with my Minelab X-TERRA 705 and a very clear audio in spite of the highly mineralized soil in Az. I dug down about 3 to 4 inches and saw a coin, after filling the hole I checked out my find. It was an 8 sided token, that read CCC 2857 Good for 1 game of pool. I sent pictures of the token to Peter Spooner, author of Arizona Tokens. He responded saying this token came from a CCC Camp Eagle in Clifton, Az., and that he knew of only 4 to 6 of thes...

Great Friends, Great Finds

On May 7th and 8th 2014, myself and my good friend Frank had the great pleasure of hosting the guys from Dirt Fishin' America out of Idaho right here in my home town of Philadelphia Pa. We did 2 long days of detecting, photos, and filming video. On the first day I was able to not only find a first for me, but I was also able to find my oldest US coin. On a Colonial farm site that I have frequented many times, I had an iffy signal that sounded like something good could possibly be down a few inches. Now mind you, this field is full of iron and causes me some issues from time to time.

The Virtue Found

Summer 2013, a Parisian holidaymaker whilst swimming in the channel of Lake Hossegor (Landes in France ) lost her " Virtue " ring (made by jeweler Mauboussin) of white gold and white pearl set with diamonds, that had been given to her by her husband at the birth of their daughter.
