X-TERRA 705, Just Can't Beat It!

First off, let me say that I have tried about every high end TID machine out there in the last two years. Now, let me give my honest review of the X-TERRA 70/705. First off for relic hunting, make sure that you get the 10.5” 7.5 kHz coil for open field hunting, the stock 9" concentric coil just does not cut it. The next choice would be the 6" Double-D 18.75 kHz coil for the real trashy spots around homesteads and in yards. The X-TERRA is a really simple platform to set up and use. Just noise cancel whenever you get to a new site. I always use all metal, two tones, sensitivity as high as you can and auto tracking. The new X-...

My Oldest Coin

I had just gotten my shiny new X-TERRA 705 a week earlier. I had used it a couple times and was impressed with the feel and performance. I had owned other detectors from other companies, but the X-TERRA 705 felt like the first professional detector I had ever owned. I decided to take my new machine to a football field and an old school I had hunted several times before. I never gave it much thought at first then I got to notice that I was digging deeper than ever before. WOW!

A Walk in the Park and a Diamond Ring

Got out for a few hours with the X-TERRA 705 yesterday. First I did some target comparisons between my X-TERRA 70 & the X-TERRA 705, and then just hunted with the X-TERRA 705 for the remainder of the hunt. Two hours hunting and this diamond ring was one of the results.

X-TERRA Finds Pre Decimal Pocket Spill
Hi, I have been detecting for about 18 months, I don't get time to do as much as I would like so I often take my X-TERRA 705 in the car so when the chance is there to sneak in some detecting, I take it. I had to take my wife to a physio appointment in Sydney so whilst I was waiting for her I got my X-TERRA 705 out of the car and decided to detect a city park. I only had about 40 minutes and well I got under way and was not having any luck, just finding junk targets. Well my luck changed when I got a hit and dug about 6 inches in soft dark soil. I saw the glint of silver and was lucky enough to find a florin. Well I had never found a florin bef...

Colonial Buckle
One of my first hunts since first buying my X-TERRA 705 I was in my favourite local spot. About an hour into my hint I had a nice tone come through but it jumped a little bit because of the harsh soil conditions and trash. Even though my 705 was new to me I could hear the good tone stand out amongst all the nails and bits of iron. I am glad I dug this signal because about 8" down inside the plug I popped out I could see the end of the buckle barely peeking out. When I pulled some dirt away and saw what I had my heart was pounding. Completely intact was this buckle which I have posted on a forum and no one has positively been able to tell me wh...

X-Terra 705 Finds a Standing Liberty Quarter In Great Condition
When I first got my X-Terra 705, I went to a 1925 house. The only things the house was yeilding was a bunch of wheat pennies and 1 indian head. I finally got a great signal about 8-10 inches down in the ground. I was so excited to finally get a silver signal. It registered as a 42 on the meter and when I dug it, I thought I was digging a Washington. When I saw the eagle flying on the back of the quarter when I pulled it out, my hands were shaking. It was a 1927 Standing liberty Quarter! I couldn't believe that I found that. I now wear the quarter on a necklace at all times when I am metal detecting at new houses. The Minelab X-Terra 705...
