Dual Field Finds a Tiffany and Co. Ring

For the month of July, I have been on a ring drought. My friends have all found gold, silver, and platinum while all I have been finding is clad and aluminum. I decided to bring the Dual Field out and do some wet sand since the water hasn't been producing.

Keeping the Grandchildren Happy

I have found gold rings before with my V3i, which my wife is always happy to have. Now I have been able to keep my twin grandchildren happy. The girls are 7 years old and these are their first gold rings. One is a 14kt ring and one is a 10kt ring but they don't know the difference. This put a smile on their faces and on mine too. Isn't this what it is all about?

VX3 Finds a King Edward Hammered Silver Penny!

When I pulled onto one of my favorite spots along the Red River in Manitoba, Canada, I had absolutely no idea what a wonderful discovery was waiting for me! While the site is only about 20 acres, I have made some interesting finds including 1850’s Upper Canada tokens, 19th century Canadian/United States coinage and early Georgian copper pennies.

July Finds With My Dual Field

I want to share a few of my finds from this July with my Dual Field PI. I have been able to get some very nice gold this month from swimming holes and ocean beaches. I will start with my oldest ring first a 14k wedding band with a 1909 date inside, this ring was very deep over a foot down in salt water beach mud. I also got the small single stone ring that was dated by the hallmark inside to be from 1880's-1900. I found a ring that says "BABY" & a 14k gold men's bracelet that was worth over $450.00!

MXT Saves a Marriage!

A friend of mine in Roanoke, VA mentioned about a month ago he had lost his wedding ring several years ago while seeding his front yard. When I heard that my ears perked up and offered to find it for him. Talking some smack, I told him I could probably find it in about 10 minutes with my MXT. Well he took me up on the offer. When I arrived at his house on Thursday he showed me where he had seeded his front yard which was a fairly large area.

V3i Had Done Its job Again!

On Saturday, June 23, 2012 at about noon or so, I received a call from Natalya indicating that she was at Muir Beach in Mill Valley, CA and that she had lost her ring earlier that day. The distress in her voice was clearly evident. She asked me for advice, and I told her that I could come down and help her search. After about a 2 hour drive, my wife Judy and I arrived at the parking lot of the Tennessee Valley Trailhead. Her boyfriend Andrew met me at the trailhead, and after about a 2 mile walk, we arrived at the small hidden beach.

Another Happy Return by the M6

I received a panic call from a neighbor’s daughter, she lost a sterling silver angel locket given to her by her grandmother and it had immense sentimental value. Seems she was near the shore and noticed her necklace broke and the locket was gone. She gave me an area about 200 x 200 feet where she thought she may have been. Unfortunately the field had been cut after she lost it so I was overly optimistic about finding it.

V3i Finds a 1787 Britannia Coin

I set my V3i to Coin and Jewelry setting and was using my 950 loop. I got a mixed signal showing 6 inches… bouncing back and forth to iron then high tone… buried under tree roots. I dug down, found a nail. Went over the hole again and got a solid high tone, dug down 6 inches and out pops a large copper disk. I wasn’t too sure what it was, so I threw it in my bag.

V3i Comes Through in Tough Ground

I went out today for a detecting fix. So I headed to a site that I hunted once before. The ground was like concrete and just too hard to dig. So I packed it up and went home. We are in need of some rain right now.
