My First $20 Coin
I had to go to the bank today, on my way back I seen a park and decided to give it a go. The first coin I dug was a wheat cent, the second was this CSA $20 coin. It turns out to be a novelty coin. It is a replica of what would have been a 1861 Confederate States of America $20 gold coin. It did make my heart skip beat....

George Washington Inaugural Button
I have finally hit it big with my V3i. I was out detecting a few days ago at a new spot that I have acquired permission to metal detect. In a matter of minutes I was digging up colonial button after button. Since I do not try to rub the dirt off my finds in the field, for fear or damaging a good find, I had no idea the amazing find that I dug up. When I was cleaning my finds at home I had noticed that the one button said, “long live the president” on it. I immediately got excited and started to search the Internet. It turns out that my button was a 1789 George Washington Inaugural button! That same day I had also found a silver Washingt...

Piere Cardin Chopstick
It was a cold day in November 2013. I had gone to the lake dressed in wet suit and was just wandering along the shoreline with my underwater White’s Surf Master. The draw down of the lake had already begun as it normally does every winter. The shoreline was out about 12 feet. It was cold, cold, cold!! I was out at a depth of about 3 feet. For this target, White’s picked up a weak signal. As I dug with my sand scoop, the signal got stronger and stronger. The target was down about 10 inches and after quite a long dig, this treasure showed up. I had no idea what it was but recognized the Piere Cardin brand name. After searching on eBay, so...

Hooked on Relic Hunting with My MX5
I was able to try out the new MX-5 while hunting in Oklahoma at the former Jerusalem Community during a relic hunt being conducted by a local metal detecting club. The community was founded prior to statehood on lands allotted by the Choctaw and Chickasaw Indian Nations to be used by their freed slaves, called Freedmen. The church was founded in 1906 and burned in 2008. Only the brick foundation remains of the one room school built in 1902 that held up to 30 children in 1st through 8th grades. For the past few years I've been using a Prism IV. I need a metal detector that's lightweight because I’m a petite lady. The MX-5 was easy to...

I Found My Deepest Silver Half Ever with My V3i
On September 25th this year I dug my deepest ever silver half dollar at one of my favorite haunts which has been hunted by numerous detectorist's for many years. My Lesche tool was all the way down in the hole plus a couple inches before I broke loose the clod of dirt which had the 1941 half in it. I couldn't believe it cause it was actually coated with clay, it had settled about as deep as it could go cause throughout the entire ballpark you hit clay anywhere from 12-15". The original reading that I got from my V3i read half dollar and when I went to pinpoint it I though hmmmm this has to be something good. I just love finding them ...

Military Dog Tag Returned
The City where I live is tearing down several houses that are in a flood plain. Great hunting area since most houses were from the late 1800's. I started hunting a lot where a house was recently tore down. I got a nice signal And pulled a military dog tag. This is the first one for me and pretty exciting. The research begins soon as I got back home from detecting. I was lucky because the tag belong to someone from my hometown where I was hunting. I thought the tag was either from the Korean war or Vietnam era. I found his name & obituary on the web. He was born in 1930 and passed in 1967. Also listed was family in the obituary. I called th...

My White's V3i Does it Again!!
Here are some photos of an old spice can and the coins found inside in the Paso Robles area of California. The can and coins were found 8 1/2 inches deep under and old tree stump that had been cut many years ago. The spice can is from between 1940 to about 1964. The coins found in the can include Morgan Silver dollars from 1888 and 1806, a Peace Dollar from 1928, two Indian Nickles from 1936, twelve Mercury dimes and eleven wheat pennies and a standing Liberty Quarter from 1928. A Morgan silver dollar from 1882 is in the collection photo but it was found about two weeks earlier and in a different location....

M6 Sniffs Out a 1945 Quarter at 7 Inches!
My story is about this old place I have hunted many times with different detectors in Conroe Texas. It is an old spot that a TB Sanitarium used to sit. I thought the spot had long been hunted out because my finds there had dribbled to nothing. After I received my new M6 and donned my new 4x6 Eclipse coil, everything was affirmed about White’s detectors and hunted out sites......AWESOME! The M6 is truly a wonderful machine! I found this nice silver ring and 1945 quarter and the cool thing is the M6 with the 4x6 coil sniffed the quarter out at 7 inches among heavy trash as this site is basically a loitering site for the misfortunate and there i...
