Great Mix Of Value and Technology

I was detecting an old home site with my 10 year old son .. he inherited my ace 350 when I bought the Safari.. What a machine I cannot believe the depth on this thing!! I recovered the lock at 10 inches and the dick tracy cap gun at 20 inches!!!!

What a great mix of value and technology this is truly a turn on and go detector!!! The only problem I can find is my son now wants to use the Safari every time we go out!!!! Probably should have bought two Safari's!!

I Almost Didn't Dig

I’ll set the date first April 1, 2012 or April fool’s day for the first time in years I didn’t get woken by my son to “Dad there’s a moose in the back yard” or to plastic wrap on the toilet. He and my wife went away for the weekend. Having a Sunday to myself does not happen often so I decided to take a road trip to the coast to a field I had gotten permission to detect.

The field is on a small harbor and has a foundation on it and the remains of an old dock on the small waterfront. I had been told by the owner that the rumor was that an old retired sea captain lived in the house that is now ...

A Brilliant Hobby
I love my Safari! This week I visited a farm which has been allowing metal detecting for over 30 years. You would think that after this period of time and with so many detectorists there would be little to find and true enough the finds were few and far between. However my Safari managed to pick up a signal from approx 12 inches deep and when I dug it up .... a gold coin .... an 1892 gold half sovereign to be exact. What a brilliant hobby this is and what a brilliant detector!...

Do I Love My Safari? ...Yes!!!

After using my friends spare machine at christmas, I was introduced into the world of “metal detecting” which is walking round a field digging holes in the rain and only finding pennies. I was hooked! I was so exited pulling out Victoria pennies and old tractor bits, with the slight possibility of treasure. The machine I was using was good but my friend was pulling out so much more, a silver here, a Roman there. “Ok” I said “what machine have you got? ”..... “Its a Minelab mate.”

After every video there is on metal detecting (youtube), I though sod it, I”m going fo...

A Birthday That I will Definitely Remember!
I just had to share this story with all the Minelab detectorists out there!! Yesterday, I turned the big 31!! Stringfrenzy and I hit a local park here in town. We found a little clad and that was about it, until I got a good dime signal and out popped this charm of a tiger! I looked at the back and saw the .925 stamped on the back! Silver!!!! I was happy! Then shortly before dark, I went over to my next door neighbor's house to do a little hunting. Back during the summer of 2011, my neighbor told me he had lost his gold ruby ring about 8 years ago while washing the house and this was one of his favorite rings. He said he thought he lost ...

All I Can Say is, WOW!!!

This past year, I purchased my first Minelab detector, after the urging of several of my metal detecting friends. Previously, I used a competitor detector. Several friends of mine kept telling me how much they liked their Minelabs and how much they were finding while using the Minelab, even after pounding the places there were searching! With the Minelab, they just kept finding more and more that they had walked over!

I finally caved and purchased a Safari. Am I glad I did!!! I've hunted my father's house numerous times, and after taking the Safari out there the first time, I picked up several Lesney toy car...

The Find I’ve Always Wanted
Our club returned to a local farm having priviously found a small spread of Roman coins along one field boundary. We suspected a hoard might have been scattered when the adjacent ditch had been deepened a few years ago. This time we had permission to investigate in the ditch, along the other side of which runs and old medieval trackway. After a couple of hours struggling with the thorny under growth within the ditch, I climbed out to join the other lads who had teased up over a dozen more Roman bronze coins from the field. I was slightly disapointed, having only found two coins within the ditch and those at a distance from each other, so finding a ...

Cannot Wait To Go Back

I woke up this morning to a cold but sunny November day and had the urge to go out and detect. I knew that I couldn't hit a few of my favorite celler holes due to it being hunting season in my area. So I decided to hit the sports fields at a local Summer Camp I work at and had gotten permission to detect.

I knew the camp has been around before the 30's and that before that it was a farm. I also knew that the camp fields had been worked over with bulldozers and other equipment to make the fields. But, I was bored and had the itch so I headed out.

Best Day So Far

Okay I bought the Safari a few weeks ago. I've been maybe a total of 6 hours out detecting so far. Now I am not a pro not even close, but I have found more with Minelab in those few hours than I have with the other detector I had.

Notice I said had because after digging this quarter up, I went home and threw the old one away. I am a huge Minelab fan now, the proof is in the pudding. Today I dug up a 1899 USA Quarter. Now looking forward to as much time in the dirt as I can get. With my Safari no doubt.

Thanks Minelab for a quaility detector look forward to many years with your products....

Still Smiling

This year I decided to upgrade to a Minelab Safari after seeing my friend recover 3 silver coins on 3 separate occasions with his Safari. This weekend I took it out for the second time to a local Suffolk rally.

After setting out on a lovely sunny day I got my first good signal within 5 minutes and there it was, my first silver. A silver hammered penny, I was so happy I could of gone home then, smiling all the way but I decided to carry on.
