First Silver

Just picked up a Minelab E-TRAC as an upgrade about a week ago. This is my first silver score with the new machine. I hunted in a spot that I thought I had picked clean, and at 10 inches depth, out popped the silver rosie. I've got a feeling there are more deep targets that my previous machine has missed.

Grand Slam of Nickels

Went to a house built in 1900 on Saturday. The owner said it had been metal detecting a couple times. I went extremely slow and used TTF to pull out every non-ferrous signal. The yard was very trashy. I found one 1940 wheat penny in a hole with 5 nails. I started to focus on those hard to find nickel signals and it paid off!

A Curious Find

I found this cast bronze piece detecting in my back yard. I am hoping someone can give me an idea as to what it might be.

Something Amazing Was Recovered

On Aug. 30th 2013 something amazing was found. During the work week I typically don’t get to much time to myself to go metal detecting so I typically go for an hour each day during my lunch break to get away from the office and to clear my head. I have been enjoying this hobby for over 3 years and love my Minelab E-TRAC which I have had for over 2 years.

1916's Walking Liberty Half dollar!

I sure do love my E-TRAC... it is a silver finding machine! I have been metal detecting for over 20 years now, and the E-TRAC keeps pulling out the goodies all over the place! Just a couple weeks ago I was searching some lawn area near the University of Oregon in Eugene Oregon - an area I had hunted before, and I found a 1916's Walking Liberty Silver half dollar! This is a KEY DATE coin!

A Long Way From Home

I had a couple of detecting missions lined up for the day. The first one was a swimming hole hunt with the Excalibur 800 which turned up one silver ring and just a few old coins, fun none the less. The second mission was to search a domain in a port town not far from where I live with the E-TRAC.

Palstave Axe

Had my E-TRAC now for 2 weeks. Took it to a farm near my caravan where I had just got permission used coin mode on factory setting as still getting used to. And after like a hour or so hit into a nice hammered coin at about 6 inch down. Yippee was the first of 5 over the week. Plus 1 roman coin and a lot of buttons and a few things I'm still trying to ID ;).

Ms. Lady Liberty Pleased to Make Your Acquaintance

I have been detecting with Minelab's E-TRAC for about a year now. I got involved with our local metal detecting club and was privileged to be mentored by some experienced E-TRAC users!! Each month, members of the club would bring in spectacular finds such as seated dimes, Barber halves, standing liberty quarters and large cents from the early 1800's.

Two E-TRACS = A Shared Hoard

A few weeks ago myself and my friend Alun, both E-TRAC users, met up for a few hours out. Initially we were going for a dig on Alun's field. When we arrived we were a bit disappointed to see the farmer lime spreading. Not fancying a faceful of dust we discussed a plan B, as we were already kitted up I suggested we go and have a go on one of my fields about 20 minutes away. I hadn't tried this particular field though the adjacent ones had produced a few Georgian coppers and it did have a footpath running across it.

Hunt Before The Rain

A day off and an early start was needed for the days hunt as heavy rain was forecast for later on in the day. The very first signal and find of the day was the 1817 George 3rd silver shilling which set me up for the day nicely. A couple of worn Georgian coppers later and a brief stop due to some heavy rain and I found my first ever 'mini-hoard'. A good signal on the E-TRAC resulted in a £1 coin but the signals just kept on coming and I ended up with 5 x £1 coins, 1 x £2 coin and 26p in loose change all from one hole - just a shame they were all modern coins.
