I Thought I was in a Dream

I had been finding hammered coins for the last 3 days, and I had been out with friends, they had had enough and were on their way home. I was still wanting to detect and get a hammered coin for the fourth day, so I said my goodbyes to my friends, and I went on my way to a field where I had been finding the hammered.

Ancient Finds From Japan

Went detecting along another old mountain path that runs from Bishamon Temple to Nanzenji Temple in Kyoto. I wasn't expecting to find much but figured that if I did hit something it was going to be old. About halfway along the walk I hit a solid 12-25 on the E-TRAC and bent down to dig in the ancient clay. Just about an inch under the surface and out popped a little stack of coins, all fused together. I was super-excited and assumed that they were Edo Period (1603~1868) coins called Kanei Tsuho like ones I have found before. They would have been strung together and on a string and carried that way. I threw them in the finds pouch and ...

No Giving Up

Made a deal with myself that I wasn't allowed to leave the beach until I had found either $40 clad or 4 gold/silver rings. Was a bit worried about it actually but within 4 hours I had about 6400 yen ($82.46 US) and 3 silver rings. Conditions weren't exactly ideal as the beach was pretty sanded-in (and crowded!) but it turned into a pretty good hunt. Love my E-TRAC.

A Nice Silver Pocket Spill

Every day we are able a co-worker and I go out during lunch to metal detect for about 45 minutes or so around town. We are very limited due to the time we have but it's better than spending the day in the office with no break. I started doing this with him back in October of 2010. In February of 2011 I finally took the plunge and bought a "real" detector. I had been watching my co-worker use his E-TRAC for months and was very impressed with it.

Treasure Isn’t Always in the Ground

I took my first-ever metal detecting trip to a local beach to test out my new E-TRAC and learn its features. I enjoyed a very successful day of discovering the E-TRAC's powerful capabilities and found ten clad coins (most over 6” deep). Toward the end of the day a mother and her two children approached me and asked if I could please help them find a silver charm they had lost about an hour earlier. I agreed and the mother relayed what had happened as we walked to their site.

Pleased and Impressed

The E-TRAC is only the 2nd detector I’ve ever used (I also have a Cobra Beach Magnet from a BOGO offer, but I’ve never used it). The first was a cheap model I had in high school in 1981. Used it for a few weeks, but quickly gave up on it.

I Couldn't Believe it!

In Maine we don't have to many places to swing unless you have permission on private property. The beaches are heavily picked over, and the parks are small. However if your research methods are up to par and your ears are open you might find a place or two to find some history.

Chuffed

I have now had the E-TRAC since May of 2010 and was so pleased with its performance and suprised that my picture was in the National Magazines, Since then I have found serveral hammered coins, georgian coins, and the "odd things" and "what its". I don't worry in writing reports for the above as my club find these with the other machines ( I don't recomend ) However I got to tell everyone the power of this machine.

30 Minutes of Playing

After owning a second hand Minelab Sovereign for a season I decided to speculate and buy an E-TRAC. The result 30 minutes of playing digging holes in a freinds field I found the artifact below. What was it I asked myself? Talking to an expert he feels it is a criude copper crucible used for smelting clippings off gold coins in the centre of the crucible is aproximatly 21 grams of 22 carrot gold.
