I Owe It All To This E-TRAC

I went to a field that I have visited in the past with some excellent success. Though when I do hit this field, it is always very hit or miss. Good targets are slim but usually very old when I do find them. So on a lunch break last week I tried a new spot in the field.

Over Five Hundred Coins

I have been metal detecting for over thirty years using all different brands of detectors and in June of 2011 I purchased my Minelab E-TRAC. After a few months of in the field training with it I obtained permission to hunt down a now closed down golf course that dates back to the earlu 1900's. With my E-TRAC in hand I started out and in a five month period hunting on weekends I have been able to locate over five hundred coins which sixty seven of them are silver. The E-TRAC can really go get the silver. Thank you Minelab.

Did I Mention I Love My E-TRAC

I am a regular park hunter because to be honest I am a busy working Dad with a young child and just don't have time for long far away hunts. I decided to hit one of my tot lots that has produced absolutely NOTHING for years. I am not sure why I even go there other than the joy of hunt. In the past I had hunted the park hard with my other detector but upgraded to an E-TRAC about a year ago.

Glad I Went Back!

It was Tue March 13 and my detecting buddy Dr. Bob met me at 7:30 am for a day of detecting. We hunted an old country school yard first and I found one Barber dime. We then hunted an old country church and I found a 1932 quarter and an Indian Head penny.

Ended up at a local public park that I and many other have hunted many times. I found another Barber dime next to some trash and then another next to more trash. Hunted a couple of hours more with only a wheat penny so we decided to gas up and move to another park in a near by town.

17th Century Silver Bonanza!

Hi All, At the beginning of March I began searching a new site that has early structure, but shows no activity on the earliest maps I have access to, (1892). After a bit of scanning, I pulled a large silver coin with a cross visible on one side, but clearly not Spanish, Finally Identified as undated 400 Reis Cruzado, 1640-1654. No web info, found image in an old World Coin book.

Surprised Beyond Belief

On March 2nd my metal detecting world changed forever! I'm currently in college to become a High School History teacher and got into the hobby because of my love for history. I live in East Central Indiana, not really a Civil War hot bed of activity if you know what I mean. However, we do have some relics here, as I found out!!

A Crazy Signal

I had the opportunity to revisit a colonial house, that was built in 1704(ish), I'm hunted a few times... I was on site about 5 hours and worked an area measuring 100X100... This property is 47 acres, but the targets were coming pretty steady in this small area...

A Happy Balance

I enjoy posting videos, reading forums and making new friends in the Detecting Hobby. Having said that, it upsets me when I see users of other metal detectors talking down on Minelab products and making fun of us for relying on numbers.

Wow What a Find!

I have been detecting since '97. Started out with a cheap Quickdraw II and immediately became hooked. It wasn't long before I realized I needed something a little better. My first Minelab was an Explorer XS. Through the years I've upgraded several times and currently use an E-TRAC. Hands down the best machine I've ever used. I hunt with a buddy that uses a Whites and he just can't get the depth that I get.

First Real Outing

Was detecting a old cellar site I presumed to be 1800s. Got a decent 12-41 on the E-TRAC at 6 inches or so. Dug down found a nail rescanned still a target and out pops another nail and this coin!!!!! Definetly dated the site alot older than I thought. Also found this 1700s buckle the same day. The coin is a 1785 colonial connecticut copper one cent coin!!! and did I mention this was the first real outing with the E-TRAC for me.
