Amazing Pendant

I had just recently gone archery cow elk hunting with my wife and my sister. Our plans were to stay out for a week. We would go and set up a couple of ground blinds for them to hunt in. I was to watch my two boys while the girls would sit and wait for the elk to come to water.

The boys and I could spend the day detecting with my E-TRAC and Sunray X5 Coil, we targeted areas that others had camped, finding mostly bullets and brass.

E-TRAC Hits Early 1700's in the States

I went out Saturday, Aug 18th to an area by my house that is known to give up some oldies. I hunted for an hour and found a couple wheats and then hit a nice 1897 Indian.

I knew I was in a good spot so I decided to grid that particular area and went about as slow as a person can go with the E-TRAC.

My First Large Cent

This past weekend some friends from our metal detecting group “SPHRG” Southeastern Pennsylvania Historical Recovery Group which I founded four years ago met in Concord Township, PA.

We did some research on an old farm that sits back about two hundred yards from Smithbridge Road. Using Google Earth and Bing Maps we saw that there was a large home and barn that did not show on the maps after 2002.

I was hunting with my MD partner at a local park with my E-TRAC. We hunt specifically for gold and silver jewelry.

I was finding a few coins and only found out at the end of the day when I looked at my coins that I had found my first Barber dime and an Indian head penny.

A Signal Most Would Have Passed Up

I got permission to detect a 1947 home of a friend of my parents. I went slow and basically dug everything that sounded good and some things that were questionable.

Close to the road, I got a signal and my pin pointer found a nail and a piece of copper wire. Thought that was it after my pointer said nothing else was in the hole. I stood up and re-scanned again with the E-TRAC and it said there was still something sweet sounding there.
