Oldest and First!

Well after about 6 months with my Safari, I have found a first and oldest. I was detecting a new spot that I received permission to hunt not even 4 blocks from my house. I just got started, not even a half hour into my hunt I got a great high tone, with a 39 on my Safari.

I dug about 5 inches down and what do you know, an 1837 large cent pops out. I couldn't believe I found this so close to my house! I am still in shock over this and now it has peaked my wife's interest into this hobby.

Medieval Zoomorphic Buckle Fragment

I recently took up metal detecting again after a 15-year absence as it is something I was always fascinated by, but having three young children meant that I never had the time to pursue it . The kids are now older so I bought myself a popular beginners machine and joined a group and set about attending weekly dig meetings at various locations around North East England.

I was having limited success with my detector, finding a few interesting items but I was enviously watching my fellow members unearthing hammered silver coins and all manner of artefacts and felt I was merely scratching the surface. I was now truly bitt...

Another Minelab Another Amazing Find!

I've been using Minelab detectors for many years and they never stop amazing me! Back in 2009, my X-TERRA 50 found me a New England Oak tree coin, a find of a lifetime.

Recently, I purchased a Safari and took it to a farm I've searched year after year and the finds are few and far between. The fields had just been turned so I set off. Iron signals were everywhere and my hopes of getting anything worth digging were wearing thin when all of the sudden that high pitch sound rang in my headphones and my ID stuck at 39 I got so excited!

Earning Some Gold

You just got to love the FBS Minelab offers on some detectors. My Safari keeps on giving and giving.

One hot spot I found was great one day, then nothing a couple of days later. Then a few more days pass, I go back then wham, these nice rings and chains!

The Figaro chain is 17 grams, while the other two are 4.5 grams and will not show up on other detectors.

Safari prevails!

Surfing for Gold

Hello, I go out on the hunt for jewelry in any weather or season as commercial fishing is what I do so, weather isn't a factor to me.

Everyone loves to hunt the beach, easy to dig and nice sights too.

Back Yard Treasure

Hello, from a commercial fisherman and detectorist, always look under your own property as you never know who has dropped a coin on the ground 290 years before you were there.

This 1723 half penny was in my yard by the Delaware Bay... the old time whalers and who knows what people were here at this time.

A Safari Victory

Minelab products never cease to amaze me with their build quality and performance. Over the last decade, such products have made some of the most astounding and fantastic discoveries for my colleagues and me. This goes on and on.

Some time back a friend was made redundant and his detector broke so I lent him my Safari. Eventually I gave him it and he has gone on to make superb finds at incredible depths. Today he popped round with another "Safari Victory" this time a beautiful and mysterious Roman votive altar, most often associated with Roman soldiers and various cult beliefs.

Hoards of Medieval Silver Coins

A few days ago, along with my father and an older person who found many years ago by chance some medieval coins during the reign of Michael the Brave, we came together in a great area Dolj County pasture to try our luck.

I did not know where to start and I chose at random, an area that I began to detect a few hours. After half of the day when I thought I would not find anything, I found the first coin. Then my detector Minelab Safari started making crazy sounds that I will not forget.

I just wanted to share a rather unusual find, A 'Western Military Institute' Cadet Button.
