I was excited for my Garrett 2500 to come in, so I waited at the office for it on Saturday. I had recently lost my white gold wedding ring in my chicken house, my wife I live on the family ranch. Needless to say I was quite ticked off and the wife wasn't happy either. I had always wanted to get into metal detecting and this was a perfect reason to do so, as well that week I lost my $40 fencing pliers while pulling posts. So my Garrett came in and that Sunday I got it going along with the pro-pointer that came with the deal....

I wanted to say thanks for all the support and the info on what detector was best for me. It was a little over 2 years ago,that I called the 1-800 number and got Wanda on the phone,at first the concern was the learning curve,but the forums and videos,and a couple of books that was suggested,and many,many hours in the field,has paid off....

Today, 1/23/2013 I decided to hit the local park near my house for a few hours since my kids have a half a day of school on wednesdays and hit the playground area hard. remembering what a fellow detector buddy told me, hit the swing area because he had found a few rings there where the parents push their kids on the swings. I hit the front of the swing area pretty hard finding a few coins and hair pins then some parents showed up so I had to step away for a few till they left. Once they left I diligently hit the backside of the swings and hit a few good signals and recovered almost $2.00 in coins then it happened!...

Every once in awhile,you have one of those feel good stories.I would like to share mine.I purchased my DFX 300 2 years ago,after I retired and have posted several stories of great finds,that you have graciously put on your site.I was detecting off of an old road where a neighbor told me that there used to be some old homes on this site during the turn of the century.These homes were built to support the employees for an old mill accross the street.Well back to the detecting,I worked the area,and had some great finds,a 1934 mercury dime.IH penny-1904,buffalo nickel that was toasted,and 6 wheaties....
