Silver on the Second Signal
I took my brand new CTX 3030 out for its maiden voyage this Christmas eve. First good signal was a colonial flat button, the second was a part of a Spanish Realle (piece of eight). How cool is that? Silver on the second signal! Sure off to a good start with my CTX 3030. This site is an iron infested area with the goodies hiding in between the junk, at least for a little while longer! ...

Civil War Ohio State Seal Breastplate
During the fall and winter I like to hunt old home sites from the 1800's that are now in farm fields. We tend to find a lot of 1800's coins, buttons and relics where the farmers didn't even know that a house use to set there. My wife and I tracked down this one home site that set way off the road. We started finding a few buttons and Civil War store cards, when I ran across this really nice quarter signal. I pulled out this bent up piece of metal that had lead on with what appeared to be a brass hook. I just threw it in my pouch and went on hunting. After getting home and sorting the good from the trash, I decided to wash this piece ...

Radio Orphan Annie Decoder Pin
My friend and I have been hunting an old school house site that was in use from 1898 to 1965. We have found several old coins, but the most interesting finds are the relics that range from toy gun parts to roller skate wheels, train wheels and jewelry. One day I was not having much luck and was ready to give up when I ran across a nice quarter signal about 5" deep. I pulled out this brass item that had a date on the top of 1936 and had a dial with letters and numbers on it. I wasn't sure what it was, but the first thing that came mind what the secret decoder pin from the movie Christmas Story. After cleaning it up a little I noticed it ha...

1 Grown Man + 1 Gold Colin = Little Kid Again
After detecting the whole Brigade camp with the CTX 17" smart coil I decided to go back over hot spots infested with iron using the stock coil. It has paid off, big time, especially yesterday. I had already dug a few whole CW bullets when I actually got to a iron infested area. Then I dug a NY button and started circling. The 4th target I dug while circling was the 1861 Gold Indian Head that turned me back into the 10 year old digging bottles with his Grandmother. That was at 3:30. I stayed 3 hours past dark circling the area like a shark smelling blood. I ended up finding 40+ more CW items. Christmas 2013 will be 1 I'll never forget....

Bracelet Lost for 60 Years
I was at a local middle school that was a grade 1-12 school back in the day. I have been here several times before and found several silver coins. On Friday the January 24th I made a find that was more amazing than I knew at the time. I found a small Sterling bracelet with a name on it. I did not know who the person was or what he meant to my town until I researched it. I moved to Winder Ga 4 years ago and the man on the bracelet passed away in 2006....

Rare Artillery
While metal detecting an early artillery/arsenal with land owner's permission... I have found many cannon balls. However on February 4th I was digging an area that I had walked over many times and got a signal that had proven to be artillery shrapnel in the past. This time I decided to dig it! At first I believed it to be another 32lb solid shot...until It did not break free as the others normally do. I dug down some more to uncover something I had never seen before....

Penny Penny Pick Me Up
My name is Bruce and since December of 2013 I have been having a ball. In Dec I found a 1551-53 English shilling. Now for some of you that isn't so great a feat but I live in Victoria BC. Since Jan. 2nd of this year the CTX 3030 has been on fire. Now most of you get tired of chasing penny signals all day long, but sometimes they have a little kick to them. Chasing penny signals so far this year has got me 1 silver quarter, 5 silver dimes, 3 silver nickels (fishscales) 1 1878 3 pence, 4 silver rings, 1 silver key, 1 silver thimble, 1 1930s Paces Races game token, 1 1920 dog tag, 1 1920 Half Crown, 1 gold pocket watch and 3 US Half dollars. All ...
