Took the CTX 3030 Out For One Heck of a Long Day!

The morning air was cold and damp as I pulled up to my favorite detecting site. A dense fog had settled in all of the low lying areas, and the ground was covered with patches of heavy, wet snow. With my CTX 3030 propped on my shoulder, I headed into the thick woods.

I had been to this site many times before with my trusty E-TRAC. I would spend countless hours wandering about, looking for the telltale signs of former settlements. Be it an old foundation, a set of steps that go from nowhere to nowhere, or a series of pine trees that are arranged in a perfectly straight line. Each one had a story to tell. A story of live...

Beginners Luck

Hey there! I started with my first detector November 2012. I wanted the best detector on the market so I bought the CTX 3030. I had only tested the CTX 3030 on a local beach, found some coins and other junk metal.

So for Christmas, I had it with me on holiday to see what I could find abroad. took the CTX 3030 to the beach a few times and there it came up in the scoop, the biggest diamond ring I ever have seen!

CTX "Dirty Girty" Large Coil attached

After a few weeks of looking at the CTX 17 Smart Coil for the CTX 3030, I decided to give it a go on a dig with the Southern Detectorist Group (SDG). The coil is really well balanced and I swung it around all day with no problem at all.

The depth from the coil was pretty fantastic to say the least! - This Eddy came up from 19" with a crisp 12:15 signal (yes ring pulls normally).

As well as the usual musket balls and shrapnel I managed a nice fish knife at 9" and a few spoons!! Happy Days.

The Find of a Life Time

I would like to share my story of "The Find Of A Life Time".

"The Brutus Eid Mar 42 B.C. coin".

I found the above mentioned coin with a Minelab CTX 3030 which I had borrowed from a friend we always catch up every 6 weeks to go metal detecting for the weekend, this particular weekend Matt was called back to Bristol early and allowed me to use his Minelab CTX 3030 as he knew I was thinking of purchasing one.

Rare Token

Last Sept. at the GPA show in Az. I purchased the new CTX 3030. Being a button man it was a challenge learning a high tech machine at my age.

After a few months of detecting in which I found coins and jewellery, I decided to travel to an old site which has been worked over thoroughly by myself and others.

My Oldest and Coolest Coin

The day started out cold, but with sunny skies and no breeze the day began to get warm quickly. This is the second time I have hit this Revolutionary War site and had high hopes of goodness. There are 3 field areas that make up this site, and the fields are pretty much cleared except for hay stalks and some stickers.

Half way through the day after finding numerous flat buttons and countless colonial square head nails. I had a 12-39,41,40,44 hit in all directions. First let me say the soil is mostly sandy with high mineralization. This is why I think the numbers were jumpy. So I proceeded to dig about 7-8" down an...

CTX 3030 Finds Undiscovered Civil War Site

Hello,

I was told by the president of my club to send in my discovery with my CTX 3030.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, I went to my parents house in Northern Virginia to visit. Upon arriving I did some research and found an old home site that happened to be in the woods adjacent to their neighborhood.

I went out to the woods with my older brother and started our hunt. We were out there10 minutes and my brother found d a harmonica reed...using a different detector. I knew we were onto

2 Continental USA Buttons in the Same Week

I have been wanting to find one for a long time now, and now I have got 2 in the same week.

For those who don't know The Continental Army was a military force organized in 1775 to represent what would eventually become the United States in the Revolutionary War.

This force fought against the British and though it was dissolved at the conclusion of the war, it laid the groundwork for what eventually became the United States Army.

Livin LARGE in Boise, Idaho

12/12/12 started off like another day. I hopped on the computer and started researching a place to hunt. If you're not familiar with the Boise area (or even the west in general) it's a very new area as far as modern civilization is concerned. French fur trappers established a presence in the mid 1800's but it wasn't until fort Boise was built in 1863 that the valley really started to develop.

That being said... It's a challenge to find a site old enough to produce 1800's coins. Anything seated in this neck of the woods is almost unheard of. Most of the oldest houses here were built in 189...

A Great Treasure with the CTX 3030

This afternoon I was hunting a youth football/soccer field and little did I know that before my day would end, I would find the most precious treasure money could buy with my Minelab CTX 3030.

I was near the end of my hunt when I noticed a short elderly man approaching from across the field. I stopped and greeted him and he asks, “Will that thing find a class ring?” I answered his questions and then he told me his story.
