Minelab Excalibur II
A year can never go by without welcome visit from "Grandpa Jack" of Georgia. Grandpa Jack has been a long time treasure hunter starting 39 years ago while living in New York City. Famous treasure hunter and writer Carl Von Mueller is credited with bringing Jack into the treasure hunting hobby. Early treasure hunting took place under the famous Coney Island Boardwalk where people would sift for coins and jewelry using homemade sifters of window screens in a wooden frame. Grandpa Jack knew that a treasure detector could do better than a sifter and purchased a war surplus mine detector for $50.00. Weighing a giant 26 pounds did not deter him from accumulating well over 50,000 coi...

"Both of us hunt together often and of course also team up with other members of our club. The Minelab Excalibur has turned out to be one of the best metal detectors we have ever used for beach and water hunting. We have a small pontoon boat that four (4) of use to hunt a favorite water site. We use Minelab Excaliburs and so far have accumulated over 1,000 rings!!"
"For the many years both of us have been metal detecting and as many metal detectors as we both have owned, you can imagine we want a metal detector that can really produce coins, rings, or any treasure as deep as possible. The Minelab Excalibur does a beautiful job for us. Imagine a group finding over 1,000 ri...

After spending Sunday morning with other Gold Coast Treasure Club members at our annual silver hunt and picnic, I had 42 silver dimes in my pocket, but I wasn't done yet. I hit a few local beaches and didn't give up until I landed this nice 14kt white gold ticket with my Excalibur
Here's another view with better lighting. I took it to a jeweler to ID the stones. The top stone is tanzanite. The bottom stone is a black opal (I don't "get" how it is a BLACK opal, but that's what it is called. Check out that FIRE!) To the right are three tiny diamonds. And the best part: it fits me!
Here is another, similar shot:
I'm loving my Excalibur! This year is off to a goo...

On June 2, I was on My Treasurespot.com looking at the finds and someone had posted the following: "Hello friends, I am hoping that someone in this forum would be able to help me. I lost my wedding ring at the First Landing State Park, Virginia Beach. The entrance to this beach was at 64th Street and Atlantic Avenue. My wife and I went kayaking on Memorial day, came back around 1PM and was standing near the tree in the picture. While trying to rub off the sand from my shorts, I somehow managed to let go off the ring into the bush. I heard it hitting the leaves but even 5 hours of searching did not help to recover it. We even bought a metal detector to look for the ring but tha...

Just a couple of lines and photos from last weeks trip to spain. The excalibur II was amazing, knocking out all the hair clips and the small cent coins which are a pest.
All in all a great week, thanks again for the great service you gave me in April when I bought my metal detector, its nealy paid for itself already. ...

In the mid-1970's, my parents bought me a Relco Metal Detector. It had a depth range of about 6 inches, no earphone jack, and you could barely hear the audio tones on the beach when it was windy. But I had a blast with it and I was hooked on detecting.
Now I am primarily a beach hunter in the Orlando area. I hunt with the Minelab Excalibur about 80% of the time. I love the amphibian advantage of this machine and thus, the ability to walk into a good trough as I spot it. I also use a Minelab Sovereign GT when I want to cover more ground, and I recently bought a White's Dual Field Pulse.
As a beach hunter, most of my finds are rings and jewelry. My best hunts have always bee...

I just started working at Kellyco a few weeks ago and I decided to borrow a detector and see what this business is all about. I wanted to take one out to the beaches because I live about 40 minutes from Daytona Beach. So I signed out a Minelab Excalibur, got some pointers from Nathan, and went out on a Thursday evening. It was getting dark out but there were several other metal detectorists on the beach. I put my headphones on, handed my wife a digger, and started my search for treasure. The loudest tone I got was a very elusive fishing hook. But I also managed to find a rusted pipe, two pennies, several nails, a watch that still works, and a little piece of scrap...

A friend of mine asked me to search for a wedding band that he had lost 14 years ago while feeding fish in his pond. He told me that he knew about where it was located and he has tried several times to locate it with friends detectors. He even went out and bought a detector but had no luck. I told him that I had just bought a Minelab Excalibur Water Detector. He said OK I will give you this challenge.
We went to the spot and it was grown up with weeds over the years since he had sold this property. We both had little hope at site of the area. He told me that he would get something to chop down the weeds. While he was gone I decided to work my way down to the water. I was ab...
