Gold Ring Found with White's DFX Metal Detector

Everybody has someone that they detect with, and my friend is Bill Green, who lives close by me. Bill and I detect at least twice a week. Recently, a new member of our detecting club, Rob Hill, has become a regular with us. Rob is in business for himself, therefore he doesn't have much time to pursue his new hobby so he has arranged to have Wednesdays to play with Bill and me.

Bill and Rob both are using the new White's -top of the line detector - the V-3. I am using my buddy - White's DFX with a new 5-3 Eclipse coil. As both, Bill and Rob, keep using their new machines they are getting better and better. Recently, they both have had a run of finding jewelry - normally rings and I have had a run of coming up empty when it came to rings.

Last Wednesday we were detecting in South Orlando and at the first park we all found a lot of coins. Naturally, Rob had a little silver ring. We left that park for another one. Bill and Rob went one way and me another.
The first thing I found was a pair of prescription glasses that must have been in the ground for some time, next a couple of coins, and under a big shade tree I got a signal that could be a nickel, a pull tab - which is normal - or gold, 3 to 4 inches down. As soon as I started removing the dirt I saw the gold gleam shining up at me.

There is a couple in our club that whenever one of them finds anything of significance they do a "CHICKEN DANCE". A lot of us other members have picked up this practice as we think it is neat. Anyway, I jumped up and started my Chicken Dance. Bill and Rob knew something was up and immediately came to see my new treasure.

Besides the ring I found another junk ring, 7 quarters, 17 dimes, 7 nickels and 81 pennies.

You would think that with all the change I found that I would be the big winner or maybe at least second place - wrong!!!!! I came in third of a 3 man team. Bill and Rob with their new White's V-3's are spanking me big time. But that is ok. I am doing just fine with my DFX and the new 5-3 coil.
