Great Machine from a Great Company
Review by Ron V on February 09, 2015
I bought my Safari back in November. I read a lot of reviews that had people saying it takes a while to get used to this machine and many hated it until they got used to it and then they love it. This was not the case for me. This was only my second machine and I found when I took it out the first time that it was very easy to use and understand. Of course it will take me many more hours to understand all the little subtle things it is trying to tell me. This machine has amazing depth capability and is extremely sensitive so there are times when you will get the faintest little signal that you may be tempted to ignore but once you dig you realize that it was a dime 14" in the ground so like I said you really need to become very observant of what the machine is telling you but once you do get a good grasp you will be amazed at the capability of this machine. In my opinion this machine is every bit as good as the E-trac but for only 2/3 of the price. I highly recommend this machine for anyone of any level of experience that wants amazing performance at an affordable price (relatively speaking).
Now I would like to give you a quick review on the service I got from Kellyco. This was my first time ordering from a metal detector company and considering I was planning to spend about $1300 with them I was a little apprehensive. I dealt with Blake Hattaway directly over the phone and I will tell that it was a very smooth and comforting transaction. He was able to give me some excellent information about my machine and the hobby in general and he was very willing to do whatever it took to make sure I was getting the most for my money, that I was happy with my purchase and he has followed up with me several times since to make sure I am still happy with my machine. I am a Kellyco customer for life. They are just a great company period.
Minelab Safari-I agree with everyone here

I got my Minelab Safari a few months ago from Kellyco.Forget ebay. After seeing all the videos on youtube with the Safari I decided to get it.I agree with everyone's review here.Easy to use, goes "deep" and is perfect for the beach.Once you learn the tone ID for this unit it makes things a lot easier. It does have a "slow" recovery speed. The detector does perform as advertised.I'm not sorry I got it.The reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because of its slow recovery speed and for the money spent on the Safari,Minelab could given a few more options with the unit.Like a lcd color display. They could have made the volume a little louder also. But all in all,I'm satisfied with the Safari. It performs as advertised.

I purchased my Safari a bit over two years ago and have used it quite a bit. I am impressed with everything about it. Very easy to use out of the box, nice functions, display is clear and detection is accurate. I detect with it in the southwest and with the ground balance I have never had it chatter on me yet. Even on the automatic settings I have no problem finding coins 8" deep. Once you get an ear for the tones, you know when it hits on a good target. I hunt in trashy areas and have many times picked up the subtle tone of silver next to iron. Go slow and from different directions and you cannot lose. I did upgrade to a lithium ion battery which lasts longer than the AA batteries. Weight is balanced and I rarely tire out from swinging it.
Review #2 after a month :)Safari still is imp

Hello All :) I have been totally impressed with the Safari Ease of Use for such a collection of highly useful features engineered into the Safari . Note : The weather was cold even here close to New Orleans . I only got out 3 times for 3 to 4 hours each time . The unit holds up very well in my field tests which involved having a friend hide a few objects and me seeking them out between 2 to 12 inches deep in a predetermined 3 foot by 3 foot grid. Again Kellyco service and support rocks as I had a few questions about threshold and saving programs and Blake had the EASY answers. The Safari is extreamly sensitive and as different as Night and day compared to the antique unit I once had that probably never got much below 5 inches on a quarter . I adjusted the Safari's back round Hum . Threshold down to a very minimum level as the factory setting was way too loud for my ears and probably wasted some batteries . The Head phones Kellico supplied with unit worked perfectly well in a noise infested area close to a street traffic area :) All in all after a bit of experience with the FBS compared to my old 1970' to 80's s vintage UNIT this Safari is much more sensitive .The Safari has just enough Bells and wistles but is still (I think) very EASY to set up if your using most of the newer detectors made in the last 10 years it may be really EASY . I Called MineLab one time to find a book about the Safari that may not longer be printed and they too were very helpful in directing me to the source authors webpage and were also able to give me a lead on a club . Problem is seems that separate author only prints the safari specific book in limited distributions at this time ? Hopefully there will be increasing amounts of U tube Videos and others using this great detector . All in all I am very happy I got the Safari deal here with Kellyco . Blake and the Kellico Team sure helped make the Customer experience a FUN SIMPLE and EASY task :) Thanks Kellyco Team
Glad I bought it!

Have been detecting for several years. Previously owned several detectors (Fisher, Garrett, etc.). I must confess, I really liked my old Fisher (1266) and when I first got the Safari I wasn't sure I liked it. Now though, after hunting with it a few times, I've got the hang of it and its way better than any detector I've ever owned. I would suggest that those that buy it consider one of the smaller coils. The machine is so sensitive that a larger coil will drive you nuts in an area that has even a medium amount of trash. I bought a 7.5 DD and haven't looked back. In fact, I went back to a trashy field and found 3 coins that I missed with the bigger coil: 1910 barber, 1858 eagle penny and 1903 indian cent. I would recommend this machine to anybody even a beginner. My only complaint is the cheap armrest...sure would be nice if it was metal instead of plastic for the price of the detector. And, thanks to Steve at Kellyco for the advice.
