Wanda
did the Chicken Dance Three Times!!!
The
sun was shining. The weather was great and by 10 o’clock.
Lorrie, Jerry and I tuned our detectors on the beach near
the boardwalk at Daytona. The tide was so high the
water was coming all the way up to the wall by the steps leading
to the beach.
Lorrie
was using her White’s
Beach Hunter ID, Jerry had his trusty Minelab
Sovereign Elite and I was testing the Minelab
Excalibur 1000 with the 10 Inch search coil.
With the tide so high, there was very little loose sand. The
entire area was wet with salt water but all three machines
performed exceptionally well. I started detecting close to
the retaining wall and within a minute I had a target indicated.
Dug a new nickel, moved a few more feet down the beach, then
I got hits like crazy!
Coins
– mostly Indian pennies – Dimes one after the
other and all were heavily encrusted and most had a green
patina. They were definitely old and most silver. The recent
hurricanes took off a tremendous amount of sand making it
easier to find the older coins.
We
took a break for lunch at “Walking Charley’s”
where as luck would have it we ran into the boss’s ex-secretary
who was thrilled to see some Kellyco people and bought all
of us lunch. Wasn’t that great?
After lunch we started detecting down the
beach towards the water as the tide was now going out. Underneath
the famous Daytona Beach Pier didn’t produce anything.
I was calf deep in the water and then I moved south beyond
the pier I found the Ankh which was easily 10-inches deep.
It wasn’t a minute after that that I had a strong
signal and dug up a man’s ring and then a few minutes
later a woman’s ring.
Three big ones in a row!
And believe me I did the chicken dance on each of those three
finds. My day was already a big producer, but it didn’t
stop there. Moved just a little bit and found three mercury
dimes and 2 silver quarters, again in the same area. No chicken
dance this time.
Jerry was also having a good day
digging up mercury dimes one after another – 8 or 10
in one area. Lorrie found a Walking Liberty, I believe in
the same area Jerry was detecting.
It started to get dark so we decided to end
what was a very special day at the beach.
In
case you’re interested in the Minelab Excalibur 1000
metal detector, I used it with the balanced shaft assembly
all day long without getting tired. In fact, the only break
we took was for lunch. It made it very easy for me to use.
I just love that metal detector. It’s a snap to tune
and so easy to use. I just set it and take off!

This Metal Detector Has A
5 Star Rating.
