Sovereign Finds An 8 Reale Silver Coin In Schoolyard!!
I had been hunting schoolyards with my Minelab Sovereign in the Sanford, Florida area recently without much luck, just a few newer coins. I headed back to the house for dinner, and my wife Sandra said it would be ready in about 30 more minutes. So I went across the street to a school built around 1908. This school has been heavily detected over in the past. When I got a signal, the meter read 420, which would be a penny. First Time Metal Detector User Finds Worlds Largest Pull-Tab!
. . .The shallow water proved to be the place to be! A solid hit followed by another even louder sound got Bob digging furiously and instead of a small coin he found a larger object requiring much more digging until finally a mass of metal emerged. The second signal also proved to be much larger than a coin or even a mass of coins and this target was also recovered followed by a third signal which he discovered about 20 feet from the original targets. More Winter Metal Detecting Finds Coins, Rings, CW Relics.
I searched a number of different sites and even though the weather was cold I was thankful there was no snow on the ground. I was also lucky even though the ground was somewhat frozen, I was still able to dig into the ground as a number of items were quite deep. Finding Gold is Just Icing on the Cake
I went out detecting today for what may turn out to be the last time this year before old man winter freezes the ground. I went back to one of my old favorite spots. A place that has yielded Barbers, Seated Liberties, Shield and Liberty Nickels and Indian cents over the past 10 years. Most people who drive by just figure it is a corn field. 7 Spanish Reales Found 4-5 Inches Deep
Shortly after purchasing my Minelab Sovereign Elite detector from KELLYCO in February, I was detecting a beach, which is just south of the Fort Pierce Inlet in Florida, hoping to find something that was washed up on shore from the documented Spanish Plate Fleet wrecks that were sunk during a hurricane in 1715 between Sebastian Inlet and Fort Pierce.
