The sea was calling me and my Excalibur. After all, it’s waterproof...what’s a little rain? Well, it was a lot of rain and some
lightning. I ended up getting soaked and nearly drying out again before it was over. But the targets were many and the digging endless. I wound up hunting for about 4.5 hours, from 9
PM until about 1:30 for the 10 PM low tide, so the tide was WELL on it’s way back in by he time I pulled the plug for a Friday night.
Anyway, going down there was a good decision. And one of the main reasons I got the Excalibur over the Sovereign Elite, which I used last summer, was
because of so many rain days last summer. I figured rain will not stop me any more now. Lightning will though and I had to take refuge under the pier for almost half an hour
at one point. I have two things on my wish list for this summer. One was to find another killer diamond ring for my wife like I did last summer. The other was for a nice gold chain
for me. I found 2 silver and 2 gold rings, 10K and 22K and a diamond heart pendant. Well Saturday night I crossed the chain off the list! I could not have found a better one. Being
that I am retired Navy, this 18K chain with an anchor and an eagle is perfect. From hence forth, around my neck it shall stay.
So, I hit the surf lane from about 9:30 PM to 1:30 AM for the 11 PM low tide. Not as many coins as Friday night but there were certainly plenty of
good hits. The ankle bracelet is silver, the earring in stamped 925 as well, and the chain is 18K (it is marked 750) and the pendant is marked 14K. It is hefty too. I also found 3
British coins, the largest one being a One Pound piece. The chain was intact, clasped and everything. It’s 26” long.
The chain was a tough recovery and 3 different waves almost took it away from me. I stuck with it for some reason and finally got it so I guess I
was meant to have it. I actually HAD some nitro in my swimming trucks pocket and when I saw that thing hanging out of my scoop I thought I might need it for a minute. All of this was
found in the wet sand and shallow water. I am done detecting for the weekend. It was a good 2 days of hunting!
