The 8-inch Coil Continues to Amaze Me

The new concentric coil for the Explorer continues to impress me. On a recent hunt, I was hunting in smart screen iron mask -10 and getting a signal which kept reading iron to silver range but pinpointing large. I decided to dig as signals were few at this old school site which I have pounded hard over the years of detecting. After I cut a 6" deep plug and pulled it out, I found this 8" piece of rusted wire. I rechecked the hole and now received a solid silver signal. I dug with my hand and pulled out this beauty of a Walking Liberty Half (43).

The 8" coil continues to amaze me with it's seperation and depth capabilities. I also recovered a 5 inch deep Barber Dime (11) which had a small piece of rusted metal in with it. Other finds included new clad and such which I found in the ballfield which is still being used.

I am really getting use to using a concentric coil again and am starting to favor it over the DD coils. It seems to me that it gives better seperation then the DD. Pinpointing has been excellent with this coil.
